Great review,I got the SDS-100e in 2021,It’s a great unit,I just use it for military aircraft frequencies in the UK,I use Sentinel and Radio Reference Uk for my frequencies.

For anyone brand new to this radio. Be VERY patient! A steep learning curve to tame this beast, but you get a PhD in scannerology at the end and some fun listening while staring into the psychedelic display.

Anything out that's around the same quality and features that this one delivers? Im interested in getting a new radio ,ive own one of the old school ones from late 90s early 2000's its a Uniden loved it got it at RadioShack back in the days. But thank you for the review, does it have Bluetooth? To hook-up to car stereo?

No blue tooth. Still nothing new out there that outperforms this scanner. Just make sure there is no encryption in your area before spending the cash $

Yeas I use it it desktop just plugged in without a battery in it. Never had a problem and its been years!

You'll just need a standard USB cable, the software (Sentinal) is free from Uniden

Unfortunately, you have centered fully, the problem may come from the knob: a few drops of water on the receiver were enough to make it slip continuously, lengthening enough the times of operations that require the use of the knob ... To try to open this 'coffin' I don't even think about it, let alone send it to assistance, that between shipping money, repair costs and above all waiting times, I would pass the desire to listen to radio ... Another thing that saddens me a little is that I just can't find the way to do the updates (free, on the improvements, that living in Italy, the DMR is already operational), it seems that it has become very problematic to find the Sentinel software on the Net, so reluctantly, I decided to keep it as it is ... In this, the difference with the AOR receivers is dramatic: with AOR the update is very simple and intuitive, and above all, for free, at least as far as concerns the model in my possession, the AOR DV-1. Having said that, otherwise, the receiver is portentous, it is true that it is taking me months to figure out how to program it, but now after a period of frustration, I'm learning practically day after day more and more: now I am creating new lists of Favorites, inserting many Services and many frequencies, and seeing it in operation now, it is in all respects similar to the videos that show this fantastic radio receiver, being received with the Database of United States ! Being a lover of recordings and archiving of recorded messages across all ranges, the built-in recording function was decisive for me, precisely for the AOR DV-1.

Really depends on your need. Handheld can go with you, in car, on a hike, whatever? SDS-200 stays put. Of course the SDS-100 is expensive to be knocking around on the floor of your car or a backpack. Could be broken or stolen. Personally, if I could only get one----it would be the SDS-200 but that just me.

@@higginsreport I think your right, ill get the 200 because i like to carry my Rfinder and use my app for scanner. Plus i can always carry the 200 on trips or when needed on long road trips. 200 will be a good home base scanner.

how do I know what service is encrypted? I went to Radioreference and looked up my zip code. The local Shreveport LA PD is not listed. The FD and the SO are but not the SPD. I assume if it's not listed, I can't get it. 71108 Caddo Parish, that would be Caddo County to you. Cheers from the Bayou state.

My RR subscription expired...I can't check. If you don't see anything in the Sentinel software then maybe "the google"....sorry I can't help.

I looked up my ESN on the display. great! things are going well. The only problem is I have too many characters in my ESN, apparently. The web page form will not accept all the digits. Anyone else ran into this issue? Thanks & Cheers from Louisiana.

I’m across the river in Bossier. Shreveport PD is in the sentinal software included. Putting in 71111 with a 5 mile radius for the zip gives me SPD, BCPD, and both Parish’s Sheriffs, as well as everything on Barksdale. You can be up and running in under a minute.

@@L.C1993 non encrypted police radio communication. Basically if you're driving around (or sitting at home) you can hear any communication that a cop/ highpo/ sheriff whatever is making, location, vehicles, what they're doing ect.
