The survivability of the ship designs in S4 is incredible. Some of those it's down to like 10% of the original ship and they're still fighting!

I watched the stream, and personally, they left it way too late to pull back. Especially when the Riders had an ECM cruiser in its face the entire time, and everyone sent everything at Bastille

Yeah watching that fight as soon as they said they were driving into the formation with most of the support down... I was almost screaming for the riders to pounce on it, she'd already taken a beating in the fight and they could focus her down.

An addition to that was the fact that Bastille went into this fight with pretty significant battle damage from her previous engagement with the rider DD cluster, she was deployed out of desperation to kill the riders after shiver shit the bed so hard (no offense to the Kahns but that fight should have been an easy win)

the riders are impressing me more and more. First they force Shiver Squadron to retreat without losing a ship of their own and then they destroy the Bastille. They have definitely stepped up in combat skills. But then again free riders hell yeah

Little bit of explanation not given in the episode itself but pretty important to the outcome This comes from the official Outlands Battle record “ One of the most decisive battles to go down in outlands. TFD Bastille squadron was sent to blockcade the RR hq, with far more firepower than Zephry squadron it was on paper an easy fight. It is important to note that bastilles damage from several battles across the season had brought her down to 50-75% operational capacity, as many of her guns had sustained damage to either the turret itself or the ammo feeding system. Along with the fact that bastille hadn't recived a retrofit to modern standards nor much experience in fighting larger squadrons the odds become far closer. The RR squadron was able to outmanuver bastille and break up bastille squadron slowly taking out ships, bastille stayed in after her escorts were either retreated or dead; as each of her guns fell her ability to fend off the RR squadron and more importantly the RR clw that could prevent her escape decreased. After her last 640 and 400 turret got shot out, the RR clw held beyond 2km and locked down bastille preventing bastille from ever escaping (as her remaining guns couldn't hit the clw). Slowly the RR squadron wore down the armor of bastille, crippled her jump drives, destoryed some reacotors untill bastille surrended (non recoverable as with all surrendered assets).”

I may not always agree with the Riders, but man... this has got to be a MAJOR turning point with the Bastille going down along with most of her squad. Not only that, but Zephyr squadron continuing to the be the line in the sand for the Riders. What a battle and I still have another one to watch.

We see here that Riders Zyphr squadron can indeed kill battleships. But watching them fight literally themselves on the second battle was scary. Like how do you fight an opponent that’s basically yourself and knows all your tricks and antics? Free Riders showed no mercy just as Zyphyr squadron did with TFD. It’s an interesting match up FR against RR but a little sad too. Can’t wait for episode 11 keep up the good work.

The Free Riders are kicking ass against their forebears. If they win? Hopefully they inherit the Vesuvius.

And whe- *cough* I mean, if 1st fleet loses their fleet battleship, then there's relatively little stopping Eternity from just rolling straight into 1st fleet space and strolling up to Pistis before casually bombing their HQ from orbit until they surrender, especially if Brock manages to eek out an escort from an ally like PXC! And if Cairo gets involved, CTRL + A + DEL goes the entire 1st fleet with almost no hope at putting up a serious fight outside of destroying a heavy cruiser or two! At that point, I'm more worried about the EDF, considering the EFN story video hinted that they were building a truly gargantuan fleet with the sole objective of obliterating 1st fleet and anything in Pioneer that seems even remotely threatening, a fleet that could potentially appear at any moment considering Eternity managed to build an entirely new jump gate in under 6 months! Even when assuming the EDF takes double the time to rebuild their jump gate, we should be seeing an invasion any moment now! Sorry, I went off on a tangent, and thanks for reading through that semi-speculation. (no offense if this completely blew your plans for season 5)

I'm happy to see a count at the end of how many ships died. TFD/FR came off the worse for wear this time lol. I think it was a bad idea to send in the battleship this early, it's best to keep those powerful ships in reserve until everyone has got a hang of fighting together in my disgustingly humble opinion. For evidence, see one of the earlier fights of season 2 where a heavy capital fleet was mauled by the KE.
