Ithaca firearms made a series of sawed off shotguns in the 1920s called the Auto and Burglar that could be had in either 12 or 20 gauge with pistol grips and roughly 10 inch barrels that they advertised for home or store defense as well as for defense in your car from hijackers.

for about the same money you can get a Serbu super shorty pump in 20 or 12 and it's only a $5 tax stamp because it's an AOW.

I shot something like this one in a 12 gauge remington SxS, I definitely agree, hip fire is the way to go as opposed to trying to hold it like a pistol one or two handed. The recoil is a beast.

I think Mississippi actually had one in 10Ga. Most double barrel shotguns in the late 1800s were 10s.

20ga sounds about right. 12ga reduced loads, .410 with good defensive loads i.e. (5) .40 balls would work.

I have a 12 Guage pump with a 6 inch barrel it patterns real good a little passed 20 yards it has a improved cylinder bore .I use it as a truck gun or bump in the night gut I shoot it a lot and am very good with it. Haters are gonna say its a novelty gun but don't run up on my truck with bad intentions it won't end well

John Kaveski Do you understand pressure buildup when shooting slugs? A sealed chamber trapping more gas than a flight wad loaded with buckshot is going to exhibit more recoil. Add a almost horizontal smooth grip and you have a hard time holding it if you aren’t ready. I’ve shot 12G versions plenty of times, they aren’t FUN to shoot many rounds through in succession. Knowledge is power.

Cletus Kasady, if you make an AOW, the tax stamp is $200. If you purchase an AOW, it's just $5. Since you were doing a build; that's probably why you didn't have the long wait. I don't know about that, because I've never built an AOW.
