I am a high school teacher at a Christian school. Because I teach language arts, I crochet literary characters, among other things: plants, fish, (I made a classroom window into a crochet aquarium) etc. Last year the kids asked me to make things for them to buy to give out to others as gifts (I also made them all little things for Easter as gifts from me). It became very time consuming. This year, I had to tell my students that I would periodically make things throughout the year that they could buy if they want to, but I couldn't make special orders anymore. They understood. It is funny: the boys always want me to make things for their girlfriends.😅

I haven't looked at pattern yet. I would think you could include the row that you weave a string with pom pom, only weave a complementary colored ribbon or make an I cord to weave in and simply tie a bow, ribbon would untie easier I think (for safety) and it is easy enough to re tie a pretty bow and leave the option to the parent who can remove the ribbon at wash time whether it needs it or not. Or you can put the ribbon in an envelope to parent, with instructions for use, and request return if they choose not to use. Personally, I would be fine with a simple bow, and I 100% agree on dangling pom poms.
