On October 25, 2015, Sonoma Land Trust (Sonoma County, California) breached the levee at Sears Point to reclaim 1,000 acres of tidal marsh -- land that had been diked off from the bay for 140 years. This 12-year project has effectively redrawn the map of San Francisco Bay! This two-minute video by Land Trust staffer Corby Hines (with drone footage courtesy of volunteers Eric Carpenter, Michael Heumann and Sashwa Burrous) provides an up-close glimpse of that exciting day.
