Mostyn can be a cracking mark, pretty local to me, 30 mins away, the best time to fish it in my opinion is 3 hours down 3 hours back up, that way you can see the channel and avoid the snags, and fish it on a small to medium tide, the big springs you’ll never hold bottom. brilliant for the plaice , lots of thornies in there also mate, better luck next time 🎣🎣
@theawfulangler Жыл бұрын
Cheers Danny! Do you fish opposite the boats over low? The rest of the channel only looks about 6 feet wide at low. And I always thought it would be full of fresh water.

@@theawfulangler yes iv have done my mate, it’s a bit of stomp and a climb isn’t it🤣 I usually go up that end when going for congers , the exact spot you we’re fishing on is probably my favourite place a long that stretch , like I said I fish it 3 hours down and the 3 back up, that’s what works for me , the main reason is so I can avoid all the boulders (ankle breakers 🤦🏻♂️🤣) and snags, you don’t need to cast far either , just get it in the channel and you’ll the fine, bluey and bluey n squid wraps, the thornies love it 🤣 it’s ok up the other end also, take a right at the T junction on the dirt track towards the old Duke of Lancaster ship, it’s less snaggy but very muddy, iv alway had bass down that end but never to left, lots of mullet too but iv only had them on the opposite side of the ship, don’t be disheartened by the place, all trail and error mate, it can produce a good stamp fish 😜👍🏻 hope this helps mate.

@@theawfulangler Totally agree with you there. No matter how good you are everyone blanks from time to time. If the fish aren't there then you can't catch them that all it is and nothing to do with skill. Prime example was when my sister was 7 my mother made me take her fishing. I gave here a small lure rod and a float to keep her busy. Anyway I blanked but from the looks of it she wasn't watching her float and without knowing had hooked a little pollack. All of a sudden the float disappeared so she struck into it and it was a 10lb conger which had swallowed the pollack. I couldn't even make it up and she bragged about it for years.

I just fished that spot last week... even remembered to bring my cooker and made sausages. I knew it was a low water mark and very slippery.. I started too soon at 2 hours down from top and lost a lot of tackle and when the tides dropped so more i could see all the snags like millions of bricks. Moved around a bit to the mud bank and still lost tackle (at low water i saw the mud was covering a marge concrete ledge and that is where i was getting stuck. Fishing that spot from about 2 hours from low i avoided a lot of snags and bagged a plaice. The beach, i have seen that it is very shallow and muddy gulleys, and that you can fish a rising tide for flatties near the gulleys. (though you get stuck in the mud often). I fell as well and messed my wrist up though :) But thanks for the video, great.

I'm no expert on that mark but have fished it a couple of dozen times. The point you were at cooking the sausages is the one I had most success on but on low tide. There are gullies right out that empty into the pool in front of you but only on the lower tides. As soon as they start emptying, the fish get forced into the pool. That's the only times I've had real success there. I stopped fishing it now though, FYI, that concrete section is really really slippery. 😅😅😅. When the tide starts flooding, that part is unfishable and pulls the rods over. Crabs are a real menace there. Handy for collecting peelers though if you like using them . Tight lines.

@@theawfulangler Early for Cheese?! Get out of town. Where are you heading next? Pretty good on the North Wales beaches at the moment with this Westerly kicking up a surf. Plenty of Bass this afternoon. Had to make the most of these awkward low water times around midday 😏

@richardjones2811 I'm not too sure matey. This weekend is a busy one, so might be East Coast again as I can do it in about 1.5 hours if I time it right with traffic.
