Mike Nelson did everything.. Researcher, making documentary, expert on harbor damage, testing cameras and scientific stuff, radar sonar, and on and on.. Great stuff.

Loved this show back when I was a kid. Never saw it in re-runs until I was in Mexico City in 1980. That's when I discovered that among his other talents, Mike Nelson also speaks fluent Spanish.

CFCF-DT is a television station in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, part of the CTV Television Network. It is owned and operated by network parent Bell Media alongside Noovo flagship CFJP-DT. Call sign meaning: "Canada's First, Canada's Finest"; (taken from former sister radio station CFCF (AM), now defunct) First air date: January 20, 1961 ... That was on a Friday ... Same day as The inauguration of John F. Kennedy as the 35th president of the United States was held on Friday, January 20, 1961, ... 😂.

They said they were diving to 300 feet. No way with their equipment. You need special air mixtures and multiple tanks.

WAIT A MINUTE!! That bag of gold dust would have had to weigh 178 pounds to be worth $100,000. Gold was $35 an ounce then. He would never have gotten that bag off the ground. It weighs more than him.

300’ on air, not mixed gas. Recipe for disaster. Also, no matter the weather, at farrrr less than 300’, it would be really, really cold. Way too cold for trunks or trunks and t-shirt. Mike, diving alone most of the time, violated all safety rules. Sending one guy down, especially at 300’, is murder in the making. Yep, I understand this is a TV show, but it influenced a generation of young people.

When I owned the Mr Sea I was like this wet behind the ears kid. When these characters came around captain Stan used to turn most of them down. He had the street smarts or should I say Sea Smarts. There are a lot of rats along the shore dieing to get aboard.

that 3 tank set up are the tanks 40's or 72's? any one know?
@sparkyobrian64173 жыл бұрын
there were many older tanks still in use in the 60's, so even though the "size" of the individual tanks (steel) were probably inline with the modern 40cf al these were probably only rated at 2250 or possibly 1800 psi making the volume about 90cf maybe 110. an interesting note on aluminum 30's and 40's is the diameter changed slightly when luxfor sold to Metal impact, somehow worthington is some sort of owner, apparently the dies were replaced and the new versions went from about 4.9" to 5.25" dia. lots of changes in steel and aluminum tanks over the years
