Thanks for the reaction! And in advance: Happy Holidays! So, Ina Wroldsen is a rather ‘famous’ songwriter (she’s written for everyone from Britney Spears to Demi Lovato) who decided to try pursuing a career as a singer/songwriter (after some terrible early experiences there’s not enough room for in a KZbin comment). It’s “ee-na” by the way, not “eye-na.” :) But no worries. :) The music video for Sea is not my favorite, at first I thought it distracted from the song, but after a few viewings it’s growing on me. Sorta. I did suggest St. Peter way back in the day. ;) But seriously, she’s got another wonderful, unique voice and a fast vibrato. There’s poppier tunes, ballads, atmospheric ones, haunting ones (St. Peter), and most are terrific. I think the problem with St. Peter (the VEVO one) was that it wasn’t available in Canada, but perhaps now, in Costa Rica… Other suggestions: Strongest, Lay it on Me, Remember Me - acoustic, etc. Again, enjoy your Christmas!

@@harrytasker5348 She did. :) Credit for singing should be an obvious one, but as I recall Ina had to make a choice with “How Deep is Your Love”… try to get a better deal, and possibly/very likely be replaced immediately, or sing it and go largely uncredited. I believe most people think Gigi Hadid, the model in the music video, sang it. :O

I don`t think this video is the best storyteller, or even Nøkken, or the danger of the sea explained in any artistic way. But the song in itself is so haunting and beautiful. I often play it 20-30 times in a loop. I am glad these reactors found this gem of a composer and artist. Norway has so many to be proud of. God jul og godt nyttår, Nexus 😊🎄

@@sarlina1 I very much agree, sometimes a music video concept just doesn’t quite work out or come together, I suppose. I think Ina had a brief podcast talking about the songs on her EP, and went into detail about Sea and its meanings/mythology. 20-30! Nice! 😊 It’s up there on my ‘list’ of favorite songs by Ina, as well. Always nice to see people discovering talented artists from all over the world. God jul og godt nyttår! 😊🎄✨

Her name is pronounced "Eena", and yes she can sing! Ina is amazing, i love the vibe in her music. Her voice is so delicate. Wow, I’m honored that my suggestion was getting picked out from you guys (from all the ones you probably get). 🤗 Thank you so much for reacting to her. She deserves more attention. She is amazing live too (if you decide to react to her more, she has plenty to react to). She is also writing a lot of songs for international artists and is a music producer… I have an impression that for many artists from small countries, its the (only) way into the business (to get recognition). Well, she collaborated with Calvin Harris and Disciples in 2015 and wrote the song «How Deep Is Your Love», and she also had all the vocal on the song, but wasnt credited at all (they had huge success with the song). This is from an interview with Ina: « Obviously we asked the team of Calvin Harris, or Adam, if I could be credited, but they said no. And it was like, "Shit ...". Then I thought, now I have two choices: either I can say: then you can just remove my vocals and hope they don't put anyone else on it, but then I knew from experience that then Rihanna or Ellie Goulding or someone else would made it, and then I would have made less money. I was not signed anywhere and had not invested the time I needed, as an artist. I hadn't dared to go for it yet. It had to be a "business decision", says Ina. The song topped the charts worldwide and sold to platinum up to several times across six countries. Still, she was comfortable with the choice she had made about letting the guys use her vocals uncredited. Until it received a Brit Award nomination for this year's single in 2016. Her husband and manager, Mark Ellwood, told Ina that they had been invited to the awards ceremony. Ina couldn't go there. - Mark was wondering why, cause it was so much fun! Then Ina said, "I can't sit at the Brit Awards if that song wins, and then I know inside that it's my voice, my words and my melody flowing out of the speakers, and then four men will go up and get that award. Then I think I would start crying, and that wouldn’t go well, ”she says. - I realized that this is business, and this industry is tough. You have to learn what's best for you, and it's not necessarily what's best for you financially that's best for you personally. At that point I decided I didn't want it like this again.» With an amazing voice like hers, thankfully she decided to concentrate on her own artist career. She was in a Norwegian/Icelandic duo (before going solo), called «Ask Embla». You should check out a couple of songs from them too («Northern lights» live is amazing and «Father’s eyes» acoustic on Senkveld). I think there is something special about Norwegian artists voices (especially female). They’re so distinctive and crystal clear….must be the fresh mountain air 😉 That said, we have some incredible male voices here too. Kurt Nilsen fex who won the only world idol that has been held (he beat Kelly Clarkson). A plumber from Bergen, the same city as Aurora. He litterally sounds better live than recorded. Check out «Don’t have what it takes» live Senkveld (and you understand). He is sitting in a sofa relaxing and those tones come flowing out. He has also recorded a song with no other than Willie Nelson («Lost highway»). He was in a rock band before he accidentally landed at the Idol audition (he didnt apply himself, I think his bandmates made a bet or something). Bernhoft is another incredible male artist, and unique (he toured as a one man band, playing all instruments and singing while doing loop live, cause he couldnt afford to tour with a whole band. He also used to play in a rock band btw). Check out «C’mon talk» and fex «Sunday» which is one of my favorite songs). He is truly one of a kind, and has such a soulful voice (a duet with him and Angelina Jordan would be a dream), You see, there are so many great voices and artists in this country that never get the attention they deserve (as there probably is in every country)…and those mentioned are just a few of them 😊 Have a nice Christmas you two and sorry for spamming your comment section. I feel lost without her, but my dog rerminds me of my sister every day (they even have the same big brown eyes). I always call myself «auntie» to him….cause his mom will always be my sister. ❤️

I hate skiing but love singing🤣 beeing Norwegian thats like swearing in church😅 Ina is songwriter as well and writes for bigger stars like Demi Levato, Britney Spears, One Direction and more. She’s also a judge on The Voice in Norway. Just some fun facts. 😃

If you want to dive in deeper into Norwegian music I suggest Kaizers Orchestra. They were one of Norway’s biggest bands to make it outside Norway singing exclusively in Norwegian. I recommend their live performance of Begravelsespolka on a Danish Christmas special (it’s on here). Enjoy!
