Sea Kayak Expedition to Find my Bucketlist Bird

I finally commit to finding a bucket-list animal of mine: the Atlantic Puffin. Which lives far out on a protected island off the coast of Maine. Seal Island National Wildlife Refuge is home to over 100 species of birds. It is home to colonies of many types of seabirds, like Atlantic puffins, double-crested cormorants, razorbills, Leach's storm petrels, eiders, and black guillemots. I launch out of Stonington and paddle through a beautiful archipelago of islands, camping on them on my way out. I spend 3 days and two nights camping on an island for this trip.

That's so far! I've been out there on power boats and it feels far. Solo paddle is wild, glad conditions were primo. Great bird shots!

It was honestly kind of spooky to be halfway between the island and mainland- could barely see any land at all. Couldn't have done it without these perfect conditions!

Just stumbled on your channel. Great video! I started doing solos last year. Just finished one, paddling out to a small island on Lake Huron in Canada called Hawk Island. It's as short 3.5kms out so nothing like your paddle. But hey, I'm like twice your age 🤣 Look forward to the next one. Awesome drone work too!
