Fantastic video! Just gorgeous footage! This warmed my heart to see; I grew up on Kodiak, left when I was 13 and it broke my heart to leave. I haven't made it back yet, but one of these days I will. Anyways, it was so cool to see that bear digging through the coast, moving them big rocks outta the way, I had no idea they would eat limpets or chitons off the rocks (I think that's what he was munching on), I cheered when he found a fish. The footage of all the sea birds was fantastic! Would you be able to time stamp the names of the different species? This was an amazing kayaking journey, thanks for sharing it with us and for taking the time to film it so beautifully. I can't tell you how great it is to see Kodiak and AK again 💜 Edit: I had no idea bats lived in AK, no idea, lol! And, The Barren Islands, wow, so beautiful! Edit Edit: Those tiny basketballs, of all things that one would expect to see whilst in the middle of nowhere 🙃

Sensational kayaking video. One of the best I've seen. Such crisp images. You have done sea kayaking a great favour by posting this absolute gem of a video. Your camera work is a marvel. Such hard work to set up some of those shots. You made it look as though you had a film crew with you. I loved it and I will be watching it again to make sure I didn't miss anything on the first run through.

Looks like the conditions were ideal for those long crossings. Thanks for sharing. Do you write up some of your adventures?

Not often. I did a short trip report on backpackinglight last year: backpackinglight.com/member-trip-reports/hiking-and-packrafting-the-kodiak-national-wildlife-refuge-on-afognak-island-alaska/ and I did a photo-journal of another long sea kayak trip on westcoastpaddler: www.westcoastpaddler.com/community/threads/paddling-from-homer-to-seward-around-the-kenai-peninsula-ak.5284/

I'll be on Kodiak in April with a kayak for 10-14 days and would love to do this trip-I wouldn't tackle it on my own though, are there groups of people who make the crossing that I could possibly tag along with?

The short answer is, no. I am only aware of 4 people who have made this crossing in the past ~30 years.
