Nursing mothers and pups get stressed by approaching humans and our curiosity. We invade their space for selfies, we try to pet them and this creates copycats and a domino effect. These animals have instincts to protect their young. Respecting their boundaries is the way to go.

Beach needs to be closed off. This is about as dumb and careless as humans get.i hope they get bit. Serves them right. This has always been a problem and is just mean to the animals. I'm so sick of people who don't respect the beach or its animals. I think every parent down there with a kid is a bad parent putting their kid in a dangerous situation.

Darwin just needs to do his job a little better and take out some of these stupid, disrespectful tourists! Less visitors will improve the situation. A copy of the video showing the seal lion rushing toward the shore should be playing on an infinite Loop screen at the top of the stairs. This would provide the best information for all visitors, including the ones that are alleged not to understand existing signage.

Careless people are putting unneeded stress on the seal-lions especailly doing pupping season...I do hope it is pass to close off the beach to visitors.

Now here's the thing that the lifeguards down there don't tell The Tourist if the Taurus managed to get past the seals and go into the water to go swimming out there there's a chance that there are great white sharks in that area feeding on young seals out there no warning whatsoever.

San Diego build a protective barrier now!!!! It your responsibility!!!! These precious creatures are defenseless. And stop waiting & wasting time with all the bureaucracy. At least put a secured gate up until a protective barrier can be built. I am a San Diego native. My family has been here for 6 generations now. None of my family members have gone down to their place of safety. No tourist/visitor/local/native should be allowed down there.

Close the beach? So you punish all of us locals who go there, swim, dive, snorkel and respect the sea life? We get kicked out all year because of the actions of idiot tourists who only come here once and don't care if the beach is closed? We swim with dolphins in the surf? We swim with the leopard sharks over at La Jolla shores.. Going to close those beaches as well? Hire just one state park person to write up $200 tickets to tourists getting too close. I was there Sunday, but earlier in the day. An Indian man and his family kept getting too close, getting right up on the Sea Lions getting that all so important selfie. Well chomps the big male sea lion didn't take to kindly to them, chased them down the beach, the kids running down the beach like Freddy Krueger was after them and dad ran up onto the rocks, slipped, twisted his knee, ankles and fell on his back... I though for sure he broke both his legs, but it was fortunately just a bruised back. Lifeguards tended to him and aided him off the beach. No sh1t 1 minute later, new family with kids trying to pet the same Sea lion.

No just that beach. It's a known nesting and breeding area. Not all the beaches have sea lions here. But this has a strip of sand this is not a beach per say. When tide comes in there is no beach in some of those areas by the caves.
