The layout is looking great. SC 150 is incredible, fantastic job with the paint and getting it wired up. SC 153 is sharp looking; I like the black band with the white roof and blue body.
@SeaboardCentral3 ай бұрын
Thanks! The blue and black MP15DC and the blue and white GP15-1s are patched GATX units. They have a similar scheme to the SC and my argument for keeping them was that the paint jobs were in such good condition, SC management decided just to have them patched and renumbered.

A badass little locomotive, one of my faves, especially with the Flexicoil B trucks, ala SP. I like the black over blue paint scheme on MP15 153. It has a BN/CNW/MILW vibe. I grew up in Chicagoland with those railroads in the '60s and '70s. Milwaukee Road would use MP15s in their mainline consists between Chicago and Milwaukee, so it wouldn't be a surprise to see a consist made up of SDs, F units, Geeps and switchers. If you follow Steven J. Brown or Marty Bernard on social media, you will find absolute gold in the way of images and videos from that era, and beyond. Thanks for another cool post. Cheers.

Another great video Tim! Question for you: Do you set up all you engines on the Lok Programer the same way you did with the NS SD40-2 in the video you did a few years ago, or do you do something different with each type(GE vs EMD vs Switcher), other than sound files? If you have changed how you do it, an update video would be great to see step by step how you now go about it. I’ve set my engines the way you showed in that past video and really love operating them set up that way - stuff I only dreamed about doing years ago on just a DC powered layout! Thanks!
@SeaboardCentral3 ай бұрын
Thanks! All are pretty much set up very similar. The NS heavy duty road units are a little different since they load slower than 2nd generation EMDs but I don’t ever consist them to the SD40-2s or SC units so no issues. I may do an updated programming video at some point. Keep watching!

I have a question that I realize is out of place. After "Seaboard Central Part 3 - Recycling the Old Layout" did your method of ballasting track change? The track seems to lay on top of the ballast with none between the ties - is this prototypical? Sorry if I missed a video addressing this.
@SeaboardCentral3 ай бұрын
What you are seeing is pre-ballasting. I use textured paint to achieve this look and it is a temporary step before I actually ballast the track. This allows me to test some operations to make sure everything is ok before I permanently secure the track. I just had an article in Model Railroader magazine about this Technique.

Cool remote locomotive SC #150, I can’t wait to see the helix get connected to the ADM Module. So… does this mean that the ADM will become a RCO zone?
@SeaboardCentral3 ай бұрын
Thanks! It will be just like any industry that has a RC unit working in the plant. Prior to entering a train crew will contact the office or the conductor will walk in to make sure the RC unit is in the clear. RCO zones are associated with railroad operations where a yardmaster controls all movements in the yard.
