I understand I stated "Seabourn Central" when it should have been Seabourn Square, my apologies.

What about the unlimited caviar? Did you avail yourself of that option?

Thanks for taking the time to review. Some of your complaints are valid, some just picky, and some hilarious. Complain about the ports? It is your job to know at what ports you will be stopping, and learn about them, BEFORE booking them. Your bad, if you didn’t like them. As far as luxury, to me that is a 450 person, single class, experience. That is Seabourn. On Celebrity you get 3000 people and the waits, crowds, lines, noise, hassles that go along with that. Yes, I’ve tried that. If you stay in the Retreat, you are royalty, and the others are peons. Can you walk into every restaurant or entertainment venue on Celebrity with no reservation, and still be seated immediately? In cruising, small is luxury, large is not. I’ve tried both. Small wins, every time.

Thank you, Jerryteel, for your comment. I must say that on Celebrity, I don't have waits, crowds, noise, or lines actually, so I guess it is based on experience. I also tend not to cruise out of Florida, which could be a factor. By the way, many complained about the ports, not just me and my partner. I feel that cruise ships have what I call "economic stimulus ports," where the cruise makes some deal to try to bring money to that port city, or the cruise is picking up less expensive supplies or people. When you are researching cruises, the pictures and tours will make any port look fabulous. That is marketing, so my bad? Not...

Loved every minute of our time on Seabourn , especially the appetizers in the cocktail lounges ,whereas Celebrity gives you nothing and they did at one time .Afternoon tea was wonderful ,cooking at the poolside was wonderful and the complimentary bottle of Champagne and the bottle of your choice (jack Daniels,etc) in your room on your arrival .Champagne and cavier off surfboards with a spectacular buffet beach side ,absolutely incredible.Celebrity is NOT all that anymore especially the graffiti stuff on the walls by the pool .

I just got off the Ovation. I looked at the deck plans online before I embarked and knew exactly where to go when I got on the ship. Do some research, Doctor. That's what the internet is for.

I agree; however, my point was that on other cruise lines, you have the crew to welcome you onboard and even walk you to your cabin. These cruise lines are not considered "ultra-luxury." That was the point. Thank you for your comment.

We are or were a big Celebrity fan , last time was on the Summit,aboutn6 months ago ,andnthe first time in several yrs ,and Celebrity has gone downhill for sure .We were on Seabourn ,and absolutely loved it ,head and shoulders over Celebrity

Thank you for your comment. It seems you had a bad experience on Celebrity and glad you enjoyed Seabourn which I also did but disappointed overall. The Summit is an old ship that was renovated. It would be good to compare notes. Cheers!

@@dr.rb-letsreunite2249 thatbwas our 5 th time on the Summit,no food at cocktail hour , entertainment was so so ,food was good but nothing compared to what used to get on Celebrity in the 2000s ,we really enjoyed Seaboure and looks like HAL is really upping its game their ships are stunning ,also Cunard ,very nice

The cost of ultra luxury lines aren’t much more than mainstream when you factor in the total costs and choose comparably sized staterooms. We chose Seabourn over Celebrity for AK because it ended up being cheaper.

Thank you for your comment. I thought I would try a more supposedly luxurious cruise line and was just disappointed. I agree though, Celebrity has upped their prices, so it makes to go with Seabourn. Thanks again.

Sounds like your cruise was a clunker. I’ve watched many vlogs for Seaborne and the level of service is pristine. They welcome passengers back with champagne and chilled hand towels etc. I’ve cruised on Celebrity a couple times but haven’t been on Seaborne yet. I can say my experiences on Celebrity were ok but I wouldn’t describe it as 5 star service by any stretch. I’d give it a 3 overall. The food was really sub par, especially during my last cruise with Celebrity which ironically was a Top Chef sponsored culinary cruise. I had much better food on a Royal Caribbean cruise in the early 2000s for example. I hear Celebrity has stepped up their game in that area but mostly for specialty restaurants that involve significant up charges. Passengers have to scramble to get reservations to these venues and may not even have the opportunity. Even the “included” restaurants charge extra for things like lobster and steak unless it’s a special event. I hear the food quality in the main/included restaurants has gone way down on the mega ships as they want to upsell the specialty dining. That’s sad and really turns me off on cruising as the whole point is to relax and not worry. I don’t want to spend the week waiting in line for guest services to attempt to get reservations to get a decent meal that, if magically chosen, will cost hundreds of dollars. Sorry you didn’t enjoy Seaborne but it sounds like you had some back luck there and sailed with a crew that was experiencing issues. That doesn’t sound like the typical experience so I’m hopeful. All the best!

Really Dr ? if your cabin is on deck 8 why didn't you simply get the lift to deck 8 and find your room. And by the way it is called Seabourn Square not Seabourn Central
@dr.rb-letsreunite224911 ай бұрын
I understand I stated "Seabourn Central" when it should have been Seabourn Square, my apologies. This was my first cruise with Seabourn. I am used to on other luxury lines for a butler, or host to walk you to your room, especially on small ships similar to Seabourn. I referred to this because there were no greeters to greet us or guide us. The suite was not on the 8th floor as you would think. On each floor, the numbers went from 8000-11000, for example. We were told to go to one floor and then we were told to go down a floor. The point was that for a luxury line, I expected the experience to match other experiences I had with luxury lines. Thank you for taking the time to comment.
