SeaDoo fuel gauge not working? How to fix

I replaced my gas sending unit once..second time around I pulled it out and carefully dremeled a window exactly where the circuit board sits and tested each tiny fuse until I found the one that was blown. I then bridged the fuse legs together with solder...worked perfectly since..going on 3 yrs with it.

I bought a 97 xp this summer and we couldn't figure out why the fuel gauge was not working. Your video was extremely helpful. We opened the fuel sender and saw the motherboard had been put in upside down where the floater was on the backside. Is there anyway to take out the motherboard and put it in correctly? Thanks

hi, 94 seadoo, have to replace the fuel tube assembly, having issues removing fuel filling hose , appears this hose an" inside tube" which enters into tank thus there is no room to really take the hose off at fuel tank or up at filler neck location. Could you be so kind to tell me how you did that? I was hoping to just pull the tank forward , remove lines and lift the tube up but it appears it is held down by something to do with the oil tank that sits on top of it. Almost like it's oil filler neck is attached. any help would be great, thank you, great video

It seems to be going right through the engine and into the exhaust side . It runs great idle and full speed but just leaks through the exhaust which I found a screw hole type of opening that it leaked out … which puddled in the haul. I checked the two lines that it goes to. The bottom line on the oil tank goes below the carb area … down low.And the other is above the starter. No leaks on the line . Seems to pass wright through with out any resistance . The fist time it wouldn't start because the oil filled the Pistons . So I removed the plugs and turned it over and it sprayed every where … so I put a towel over it while doing that until it stopped. Would the crankcase seals really let that much oil in or do you think its the pump? Thought of an idea to reduce the flow by adding a small valve to the Oil line which feeds to the crankcase side ( Starter side so that it has a chance to burn off correctly. What's your thoughts ?

Those 2 lines on the bottom of the engine are used to lubricate the rotary valve shaft. It's a geared shaft in between the 2 pistons that drives the rotary valve. I suppose if the seal goes for that rotary valve shaft you'll leak oil into the crank and would burn alot of oil. Let it sit for a while then pull the plugs and crank it to see how much oil comes out.

I did remove the plugs and turned it over until it all came out. So I put the plugs back in and started right up. I then added oil to the tank in which it came out of the back exhaust. Found a screw size hole in which I will repair but that isn't the issue. So is it my assumption that the oil lines that go to the bottom of the crank are supply and return. Supply line would be on the carb side and suction on the exhaust . I did find the Oil Pump was fully open and no cable tied into it. I don't think all the oil drained through this as its suck a small opening. So was just thinking I could add a valve on the supply line to reduce the flow and give it time to burn and lubricate .

Better late than never, what usually happens in your case is the center gear on the crank that drives the rotary shaft has walked and pushed the inner crank seal or chewed it up, it will fill up the crank cases and either hydro lock the motor or push it right out the exhaust. Buddy bought a ski with the same issue last season we are rebuilding it now

i got a 96 sex and my fuel gauge is always showing empty and my gas light is always on. i removed the baffle (Fuel sending unit) and my float was still inside but the little magnet had fallen out and was just sitting on the bottom. i put the magnet back in the bobber and re installed it but it didn't fix anything. you think that means my circuit board is bad or is it possible i put the magnet in backwards? since magnets have a north and south side what is the possibility that its just in backwards?

Are you burning the oil or just loosing it. If your spark plugs are fouling out quick then its burning it and your oil mixture is set too high. You can adjust the cable that goes from the oil pump to the carbs

My fuel gauge on my 99 GTX reads Low Fuel and will not start, as if it's not getting any fuel at all...even though I have a full tank! Seems like the F1 fuse is probably OK, so do you think it might be a bad float?

Take out the spark plugs and put a table spoon of fuel into the cylinders. If it starts then look at the fuel circuit. Probably Carb rebuild. If it doesn't start take a compression reading. Should be 150psi. If good then check spark.

Thanks for the reply. I should add that it does start and run (sometimes), but then for no reason it just cuts out. It will then continue this trend on of off. Do you agree that it sounds like a carb issue? Will it still run even though the gauge says low-fuel? Seems like I might have 2 issues. Something going on with the sending unit and perhaps the fuel lines or carbs themselves. I have had it in for repair 2x and both times they said it's fine. (the low fuel is a new issue since bringing it in)

It could be a number of things. Gas tank not venting, spark coil, bad dess key. Try leaving the gas cap open alittle, use a inline spark tester and check for spark when it doesn't run. Sometimes the coil can heat up and stop. When the coil cools it starts to work again.

+Rudy Falcomer I usually just plastic weld it in 2-3 spots. I use a regular solder gun to weld it. I'm sure you can look up a video on plastic welding with solder gun. Real easy

You are correct jet ski is a trademark of a compnay however America loves to use the original name brand of products to refer to the entire industry of said products. Everything he was referring to is seadoo brand however these same theories and applications are similar across all pwc brands
