Having read a few comments it still needs to be .mentioned that the work to get these videos out is immense Having secured my IAM first and holding a Rospa gold gained 14 months ago , I consider myself a competent rider, that said we never stop learning . Personally I find these videos refreshing a must for all riders irrespective of experience. A remark to those newer riders would be that with time and quality practice IPSGA and your safe ride planning will in time become second nature. Looking forward to more of the same. Safe riding. Dell-Boy.

Hi Dell-boy, thanks for that and congratulations on your advanced test passes - these can be a lot of work to make, but also a lot of fun and well worth the effort if it encourages people to improve their standard and their safety. I try and get a bit of everything in them if I can with some good demonstrations, scenic roads and coffee stops as well as reinforcing the importance to get the basics right and teach yourself good practice. I try to demonstrate a relaxed style and hopefully get a bit of humour in there too but most importantly, I enjoy myself out there, especially riding round the Forest - stay safe too and thanks again for taking the time to put your comments on here DB

Another very worthwhile video. Reminding me to get down to Sammy miller's museum sooner rather than later. seeing that this is a five year old video, I am very suprised that the viewing total to date is 91. These are easily the cream of the crop when it comes to instructional content and overall excellence. Many thanks and ride safe.

Hi, and thankyou for taking the time to comment on it. I'm very lucky to live in this stunning part of the world, it's a great place to ride in. If you're planning on visiting the museum, they are building a new cafe soon and converting the existing one into an Italian room for more bikes. If you can do it, come down for 10 on a Tuesday morning, Sammy let's us park in the courtyard so you get a free impromptu bike show with everything from my mates 1937 Guzzi to this week's crutch rocket - there's very often a guy there with a big Benelli that you can say hello to. The sausage and egg baps are superb and the coffees not bad either. DB

Another great video seaflyfisher it has a great interactive approach with the viewer to draw them into the reasons behind your decisions and style of driving .Yet again the video points out how the correct approach to the viewers own driving can save them from other drivers faux paux and a potential accident. After seeing both Neils and your own excellent videos I have booked myself a few days tuition with a local advanced driver in a few weeks ,hopefully he can teach an old Dog a few new tricks.

Hi Andi - excellent - I'd be interested to know how you get on so if you get a chance to film any of it, stick some on here - if your instructor is worth their salt you should get a lot out of it - it's one thing to watch it on here but much better to get some one to one road time and have a good live demo done for you - well worth asking if they'll video you too - the first ride with Neil was done with live commentary and I thought was the most interesting and the most beneficial for him to have me point out the pros and cons of his ride as it happens rather than a debrief relying on both your memorys afterwards - have fun - DB

Ok. It’s as clear as day. I have seen other vids out there and you are the best. By far. I know there are always ‘opinion’ issues or preferences, like left foot/right foot down at lights, etc, but your methods and thought processes make perfect sense. I differ slightly over filtering. I’m careful but like it, only really in busy urban areas tho. Why do it in the country? You are only robbing yourself of a few tasty overtakes 😉. I’m not that good at low speed (walking pace) manoeuvres. Have you covered this anywhere? I’ve not seen it yet. You must have been chuffed watching Neils vid of observing you on the Wiltshire ride. It looked really good. Silky smooth positioning and progress. Nice to watch. I am out there a lot now improving almost daily. Hope to see you again soon.

Another nice one. I had a few chortles on the way through. Self cancelling motorcycle indicators are the work of the Devil and I have disabled mine on the Triumph. Where I have a left followed straight away by another left, I leave the indicator on and supplement it with an arm signal. (Non-highway code style, extended from the elbow, not the shoulder). I think in the situation where you were stopped at the temporary traffic lights and were blocking the junction for the blue car behind, who wanted to turn right, I'd have given up some of that space in front of me to minimise the risk of the right turner clipping me. Finally, have you changed something in the camera or editing suite settings? This video seems to have much more up/down shake than your others. Keep them coming.
@seaflyfisher5 жыл бұрын
Hi Mike - these things are good fun to make to include a bit of fun in - the stopping at the lights car - I didn't want to move to a position of risk and didn't feel the need to either - the driver turning off could see a long way down the road that it was clear - those tricky conditions again :D - they didn't need to cut the corner and had plenty of time and room to turn off - the next car behind me actually left a good gap but equally if I'd squashed up and then he'd squashed me up as well I'd have left myself in a dodgy position with very few options - I wasn't obstructing him so I gave him the choice of either going while the road was clear or wait - I won't compromise my safety to compensate for somebody else's indecision and convenience - camera wise I lifted the camera a bit but the seating arrangements are a little different on the Triumph which is hugely long and the Benelli which feels like a real yob bike when you ride it after the Triumph - stay safe my friend - DB

Another very helpful video. Observation is superb. You certainly see things from a long way, that I don’t..........
@seaflyfisher5 жыл бұрын
Good morning Mark - all this stuff is there for us to see - a majority of drivers don't look for it but observation is a skill that's well worth investing time in to develop - it's a simple technique to train yourself and it will make a huge difference to your riding - next time you watch TV, particularly the adverts, concentrate on what is going on in the background and get as much information and detail as you can - you'll still "see" the advert and the lady with the washing up liquid but you'll have taken in a shed load more information that you wouldn't normally have been looking for - it's the same principle - on every new view, look as far into the distance as you can and work back towards yourself - you'll still see and react to anything that happens in front of you but in the meantime you're giving yourself the heads up for things that might be about to happen and you can start planning for earlier - obviously it helps if you're magnificent to start with but everyone can do this and you'll notice a big difference in your riding - stay safe :D

Hi, Really finding your videos really useful - very many thanks for taking the time to prepare the videos. As I am just returning to biking after a 25 year break and find technology has moved on and wondered if you could let me have your views on sat nav's and communication systems. I am of the view that the satnab/google maps can be helpful especially if the route and turns are spoken thereby reducting the need to look at the screen which can be a distraction. On another point it may be useful to speak to my wife (pillion) on a long trip! Any views would be welcome as I have invested in good riding gear but not a comms system. Best regards.
@seaflyfisher5 жыл бұрын
Hi SNP apologies for the delay - I wrote a reply to you the other day and it blanked itself before I could send it - personally I don't use a satnav on the bike, I used to ride for a living and have a pretty good knowledge of how to get to most places without too much difficulty but the technology is certainly very clever - I did used to have an Autocom rider to pillion intercom which was brilliant and the up to date stuff is even better being wireless - if you intend taking your good lady out on the back it makes life a lot easier to tell her things rather than trying to shout back over your shoulder whilst pointing - they are rechargeable and good for a couple of days worth, plus you can have music or your phone tagged up to them as well - good stuff - glad that you're finding the videos useful and welcome back to the wonderful world of biking - a good friend of mine, Neil from Back2TheBike would be a good man to pick his brains on the satnavs as he has one on his BMW and uses it a lot - stay safe out there - cheers - Dale

Dale, I’m a bit confused when changing position between 1 2 3 etc. Do you ALWAYS need to mirror check before you change position?
@seaflyfisher5 жыл бұрын
Hi - the short answer is yes - at the information stage at the start of your run through the system it will include observation before you select and/or change your course to make sure that the manoeuvre is safe. I'm guessing that you're already doing this anyway and generally your normal regular use of the mirrors is going to cover some of your movements across the lane - whenever you alter course, you need to be certain that your move is safe and if you can't be sure since your last rear observation then yes you need another one. Stay safe out there.

Great video once again, just a quick question if I may regarding speed limits, my biggest problem seem to be irate sales reps and testosterone raged young guys who get totaly peeded off with me sticking to the speed limits [30 & 40 mph] and have overtaken me and put their selves in illegal and dangerous positions, my question is "are you tempted to break speed limit to get away from them?
@seaflyfisher5 жыл бұрын
Hi and thanks for your comment - its tricky isn't it and one of the reasons that I have the cameras on my bike - personally I stick to the thirty and forty limits because they're there for a reason - out on the open roads you pay your money and take your chance - I've always been a speed fan but there's a time and a place and I don't let anyone push me into a position that i'm not happy with or to compensate for someone else's poor judgement and frustrations - I'm not sure that there's an answer to your question but good positioning will definitely help - I find that you get a lot more respect from other drivers if you look like you know what you're doing - it draws attention for all the right reasons - you can see from my last couple of videos that I get the same thing and there will always be these idiots that think its okay to try the "bigger vehicle intimidation" and find it funny to play road games and put your life at risk - if it really gets that bad, pull in and let them pass - your safety must always come first and if one of these brain donors decides to scat you - we're going to come off second best - thanks again for taking the time to comment - cheers - Dale

@@MarcoTNT lol - the other bike is a 1994 Triumph 1200 Daytona that I've owned since it was a year old - it's been off the road for five years so I did a little restoration on it over the winter to put it back on the road - great fun bike to ride :D
