You need to take the blue plastic off the crown mate, there's a frosted finish underneath which contrasts with the polished star. It is a bit of a bugger to remove though.

On the topic of “19 ZUAN” on the dial, I was also curious as to why my dial says “19 zuan” jewels, while every other image has 21 zuan. I’ve come to discover another interesting point on the acrylic version is: “Counter-intuitively, both current versions contain identical ST1901 movements, with 21 jewels in each. The reference to 19 jewels is simply a homage to the original line of watches produced in the 1960s, which featured acrylic crystals and an older 19-jewel movement.” So, if you see 19 on the dial, you’ll know it is most likely the acrylic crystal version.

It occurs to me that having a passion for watches and doing vlogs and reviews of ones collection offers a chance to also indulge in cameras and video technology and pair the two. HD video finally gives us the amazing detail we crave with beautiful watches. And you use the camera and angles very well. It adds nicely to the watch passion itself and is a wonderful way to share the collection.

Thanks for the review. You're right, there's a lot of reviews out there, but yours was a good addition as an actual owner. I bought the 42mm version because I have a large wrist (8") and 38mm and smaller watches just seem tiny on me. The nato strap on the 42mm version is much nicer than the one on the 38mm. Perhaps the original was that awful khaki strap and they didn't feel the need to stay as historically accurate with the larger case?

You should do a video as well, always good to hear from an actual owner. The original didn't come on a NATO strap. China is and never was part of North Atlantic Treaty Organization. Thats whats so funny all the watches sold outside of China come on the NATO strap for the westen market but in China it comes on the strap. If you make a video send me link.

I own two of these. A 40mm Chrono Heritage M1963/X - SEA-GULL ST1901 bought directly from Sugess Watch in China and a 40mm limited edition Red Star bronze Seagull 1963 that came from the official Seagull 1963 store in Belgium. The Seagull is a watch that is hard to fault and I‘m quite fond of both of mine but my customer experience with both companies was hardly satisfactory. In sum I was swindled twice. The Sugess was supposed to come with the Swan Neck movement but didn‘t and unfortunately too much time had elapsed before I found out for me to be able to do anything about it. As for the Belgian Seagull 1963, it was only after I had received it that I found out that they do not individually number their limited edition watches (instead all 300 are numbered 1/300) and that it was missing it‘s tag, manual and registration QR code. It was also shipped about two months past it‘s preassigned shipping date. The company in Belgium casually dismissed my concerns and when I asked to return it they informed me that the 14 day return policy had expired. Be very careful who you buy from. The Seagull 1963 company in Belgium seems rotten to the core. I wouldn’t deal with them again if they paid me. BEWARE.

Great video of this icon watch. The lug length is like my Hamilton Khaki mechanical but it really doesn't wear that bad considering it is also 38mm in diameter. I am not a chronograph kind of guy but I really like this watch especially since it is hand wound.

I wanted to recommend you the gustav Becker chronograph. It's a junghans homage and its $242 with seagull st1908 mvmt and real moonphase and functioning column wheel chrono. I think it's better designed than the watch in this video but in watches it's about history

I hope after 5 years you took the blue protector off the crown. Mine was on for a a week before i realized it. Its etched around a star. Hard as heck to get off because it's perfectly fitted. Takes time . Also any chrono guide on youtube tells you not to use that chrono the way he was. Even Daytonas.

I own 2 Sea Gull watches, including a 1963 reissue. Both keep excellent time. Both broke! I have written 5 times to them, using their "contact form" and have NEVER received any form of reply. Be careful buying their watches. If you need any help from the factory, you're out of luck.

When I finally assent it to the address I was given, it took a year to be returned unopened. I have been at Sea Gulls official site leaving messages and have not received any replys.

Never buy from ebay or Amazon there are to many fakes. Theres a hong kong company buying cheap seagull movements and making there own watches, I think thats where yours came from. You're watch making could buy a new movement and just change it. Make sure its from seagull not ebay. Seagull in China will not help if you didn't buy the watch from them.

Only real way is buy from Seagull, All the other do have Seagull moement but they are not the grade 1 movements.

@zacky6416 online I don't know. The fakes still use the seagull movments but they're not the high grade ST19. Your best bet is buy as cheap as you can and think of it as not original.
