On June 20, 2024 (Thursday), I performed *"Seagull"**, composed by Makiko Kinoshita, at the Thursday Concert Series hosted by Arc Kioicho Salon Hall, as part of my **Keisuke Konno Tenor Recital Vol.3* ~ "Songs of Japan and France."
The poet Tatsuji Miyoshi, who published this poem in 1946, just after the end of the war, wrote it by overlaying the image of the souls of many young men who had died in the war with the free and wild flight of seagulls. The phrase, "At last, freedom is theirs," which is sung a total of nine times (twelve times in the original poem), contains a deep sense of requiem.
I believe everyone wishes for a peaceful world, but in reality, wars continue for various reasons. I sang this song with the hope that peace will come to the world as soon as possible.
