The Hammond was able to pass through the ice wall because he died at the end of the first map. On the second map, he was actually a ghost the whole time.

I'm guessing the wall thing is because when the wall generates in the same space as a player where there isn't room above to raise them, something has to give otherwise it would push them out of the map geometry or cause two game objects to occupy the same space. It's probably coded to do exactly what it did, which is only raise to a height which still allows the player to fit underneath the roof/archway, and then shunt them to one side or the other if they don't move off themselves, before raising to full height.

As a mei main I will say that happens all the time. IDK if it’s my ping or what but her ult, freeze and wall are delayed. You learn to live with it

Mei would essentially be an S tier character IF everyone could play on 1 ping. The fact that everyone plays around 66 though, this would cause things just like appearing on the wrong side of a mei wall. Thus making her unreliable at those choice times.

Her ult is especially egregious. Voice Line happens, hand animation completes, you die and snowball is nowhere to be seen.

ive had it happen a lot with Mei. Idk what it is but im guessing its a result of however they fixed the issue of people clipping through it when on top and jumping on it. definitely still issues to work out in her code though

I'd argue that that wall might've been a collision issue, so to not "compress" ball flat inbetween wall and ceiling some with physics stuff is happening, but that's just a wild guess... As I see it, the top of the wall already clips into the ceiling, so if it was put right under the Hammond, then his height coordinate should be above wall but under the ceiling, which is impossible. Although I guess in those cases he should be just thrown to the or another side of the wall, but we also know that Blizz had tough ride with Mei's wall so far, so god only knows how it is coded.

i think what happened with the mei wall is you walled ball inside the block, and ball has some wonky mechanics with his lower half(crouch then walk under ball and you will see what i mean, when in ball form, anything below him but not directly UNDER him will clip into his mech, causing him to spring upwards so if ball is ever trying to body block you, just remember if he goes into ball mode, crouching allows you to slip under him, idr if crab form has this too, but i dont think it does) so the wall was going up, ball managed to clip RIGHT as it started to lift up, causing his lower half to be somewhat inside the wall, ball is then forced up at the same time the wall itself fully erects itself, the ceiling stops that, the wall freaks out needing to extend upwards but ball has to be above it, then ball is then clipped inside the wall, now inside the wall, can roll out the other side. at least thats what makes sense to me.

Here's a change that tons of people would hate which would fix the collision issues with Mei, just make getting smashed between the wall and the ceiling kill enemies or mei but not allies. On the other hand, allowing it to also kill allies would piss everyone off and be easier to code so that seems like the version the devs would go with.

Two things happen. Either the person is stuck in place in the ceiling and will fall back down once the wall is destroyed, or the player is pushed out to the ground on the side of the wall
