I disagree on the not taking the qb until your ready, finding a franchise qb is the hardest thing to do and if you rate a qb in the draft as a true franchise guy you have to take him This doesn’t apply to meh prospects like the ones available this year though

1. Big agree on the first part. This idea of build the team then slot in the qb is a top end dopey team building fantasy. 2. Neutral disagree on the second part. No one has any idea. Honestly. Qb is such a weird evaluation. Wilson and Cousins are the best qbs from their draft and people laughed at us for drafting wilson and WAS for drafting two qbs.

Another week another Jeff/DK session. JSN and who at wr next year? John has hit on four WR's in the draft and one UDFA. Jeff's a smart dude. Here's some cuts: Tyler-30 mil next year, pass Fant-13 mil next year, pass Dre Jones-25 mil next year, the hardest of passes. Nwossu-21 mil for a guy who has't played a full season in two years. Cut and resign. Extend dk lower cap. Extend geno lower cap. Then find the oline free agents. There's 14 centers and most aren't better than what we have. Maybe kelly, shelton, myers ( doubtful GB lets him walk) Best guards that aren't over the hill? Surprise pff says it's evan Brown, hernandez, and after that it's guys with injury history recently. Maybe wyatt teller gets cut but then he and Nwossu can't be on the same team. Trey Smith? Sure. Kc has more cap space and doubtful they let him walk. It's pretty reductive to call to trade DK ( if even possible lots of teams aren't us willing to trade for rentals) and say *tada* oline here we go! When we would actually need a wr then or JSN would be the guy drawing teams best cb's or get doubled.

@@iron_bison you mean like the rams game or the many other times he’s gotten avg 15+ per reception. Since DK got hurt his utilization has been that of a number 1 and he’s on a 1600 yd pace for a full season. I guess idk what a number 1 wr is these days.

You guys are failing to realize how much scheme and offensive coordinator and supporting cast effect the QBs success. If Trevor Lawrence is there you pick him Everytime. Ask the Chicago bears. It took them 100 years and some dispute they've never had a franchise QB. Put trevor Lawrence with Andy Reid and you'll see the difference.

Aj brown also is the most targeted player on any team he plays on. Lockett got more targets ( first five years of dk's start) and now jsn. This endless handwringing, comping of dk is tedious. Cut tyler, dre jones, noah fant. There's money right there for FA oline. Except the FA oline options are pretty grim.

Darnold is a wave rider, not a trend setter. Don’t fall for the Baker nonsense. Our receiving core has talent but DK is not a pure WR, and we try to use him like one. He’s more valuable as a trade. Geno can’t demand anything, and it would behoove both of them to give a two year extension at high 30’s.

How do you progress, when Geno is continually, under throwing DK, so he has to turn around n battle the CB doesn’t catch it? Geno needs throw over DK to catch n run.. Grubb n Geno have taken away DKs speed, catch n take off..n throw towards the sideline n end zone?!!

Normally I'd agree with your take, if we were talking about a big bodied receiver, who attacks the ball and uses his hands to catch, but DK hasn't really upped his game to improve and do just that. Since his rookie season, 85-90% of the time he simply waits for the ball to come down to his body, instead of using his hands to make the grab. Tough to throw it up to a guy who struggles to high-point the ball and make contested catches. Really tough to see, since if he simply improved that aspect of his game, he'd truly be an unstoppable force. In terms of over throwing him, to try and hit him in stride, a.) O-line can't protect Geno long enough to allow that, b.) he's been a lot slower since his knee injury, and hasn't been taking the top off defenses, and c.) he's often being double-teamed with a safety, so he hasn't been getting open enough.

Strongly disagree with you guys about DK, you can’t say he’s not a number one receiver and ignore his all pro season in 2020 with 1,300 yards and 10 touchdowns. He’d eat with McVay or Reid. If you’re going to trade him then you’re leaving a huge hole on the roster. You’ll get extra draft picks that now you need to use on a receiver, sounds stupid. I hope they extend him in the off season so we can stop all this talk.

Jeff is a huge JSN honk. It's cool when your team drafts a guy you like. But forget dk's 2nd year. Just look at this year. JSN more targets, more catches, more tds look great. Then look at DK's #'s. Poor old, stone hands, past his prime DK has a whopping 150 yards and a massive 2 tds less than JSN. To hear people you'd think JSN turned into Jefferson. When he became a decent version of Lockett and "out performed," DK...all it took was DK missing game time.

It means trade DK. I’m a fan of him, but as a GM I’d lose either way going into his final year without a contract, or overpaying him. So I’d trade him for a bundle and help rebuild the roster. Same as Russel. In fact, trade him to the Steelers. He did great with the moon balls and the offense is the scheme for him. The rumors are already there. The relationships there. Wilson and brown I think. The Steelers should be in win now mode for a year or two in a tough division. they would likely continue his contract. It’s a win for everyone. The drama would be crazy going back to the Super Bowl in 05, to the Wilson stuff and to help potentially ascend a team to the top would be great controversy. At least it’s an AFC team so that means we’d only have to worry about them getting in our way at the Super Bowl so that even adds to the drama if it were to somehow happen. We get to continue to build our roster. Everyone wins in my eyes.
