Once you have rescued an entangled seal from pain and potential death, it is simply impossible to not think about the countless other animals that are still suffering. Rescuer Naude uses any opportunity he can get to do a quick scan, even while kayaking with tourists at Pelican Point. Most of OCN's rescues are quick and easy if they are found early enough, and we never know if we get a second chance to save an animal, if we will ever see them again. This rescue is no exception, it takes just a few moments to cut the animal loose from a few loops of tightly wrapped fishing line. The animal was very likely already uncomfortable, but there are no open wounds.
As all other entanglements we find on seals: it should not have been left in the ocean in the first place. The ocean is not our rubbish dumpster! 🦭
