I can't possibly emphasize just how great it was to listen to someone being interviewed who is allowed to recite their experiences and not be cut short or disrupted even once. That made this an exemplary listening experience I've not had with any other KZbin channel.

These KZbin interviews/podcast rock. They usually are 3+ hours. MSM does not or will not do something like that because of time. They will do a 2-4 minute segment and move on. The person is allowed to speak and does not get cut off. MSM has a bias. They.cut people off because of this bias. This is what makes people like Ryan, Rogan, and Jocko so popular. They let people talk, and then they let you decide.

Amen. The best interviewers elicit powerful responses with direct questions and then shut the F up when the guest is talking. There’s a big difference between an interview and a conversation and most don’t realize that. You can have a conversation and add your own color after but at first please just let ppl tell their stories their own way, save your questions and comments for later.

I give you guys credit for remembering and sharing. I was a company commander with the 10th MTN in Somalia with the marines. I opened up once on an online forum. I was describing what we went through and some Marine corp enlisted guy came on and started calling me out and called out the 10th and how the marines did everything. That was the first and last time I will share anything w anyone else. It’s amazing how mentally dangerous people can be towards others. I thank God for my wife who was also an Army Officer and knows the hardships I faced. I loved my soldiers and they knew I would do anything for them.

I was honored to attend seal class 274 11/20/2009 to attend the graduation of a young man who grew up with my son and a close family friend . Part of the ceremony was a recognition of the training cadre who were dressed in their dress uniforms in formation. They were introduced and we were told many of those medals on their uniforms were from serving our country in classified missions and were not publicly recognized for their heroic service to our country. After getting my heart out of my throat seeing this amazing group of Americans the audience began to applaud. I have never heard of been a part of such a long applause of at least five minutes at fever pitch noise. It was obvious the respect the attendees were in the presence of this one time in our lives experience and how this group of men were appreciated for their service to our nation and all the dangerous life threatening missions they completed for us and the USA.

Being a veteran myself, hearing this guy saying Black Hawk Down is the most realistic war movie he has seen leaves no doubt in my mind that he has definitely been through the shit. Many people I've talked to who have seen that movie but never served, or never experienced a firefight, find the movie too "chaotic" and "choppy", they don't seem to understand that is exactly what it's like to go through those kind of experiences. Being concussed from explosive pressure and being shot at are no joke. Listening to him recounting this story brought back memories and raised the hairs on the back of my neck

Huge plus when he just lets the guest speak and go about telling their experiences. Nothing is worse than when somebody is saying something interesting or trying to recount their story and then the host goes and cuts them off, asks another question, or interjects with something. Some hosts also have to “one up” or show that they’ve done that, or attempt to show the guest that they know what they’re talking about. Some will even try to finish what the guest is trying to say only to be flat out wrong or say something that is false. Sorry for the rant, I just hate when hosts do the aforementioned things. I get trying to keep the show “on topic” or trying elicit certain information, but sometimes you just have to let the guest speak and recant their experiences in full as it adds a whole another level of detail to come forward and let the listeners fully grasp what is going on. Hats off to Shawn for doing a great job with his show. Definitely one of the top dogs and I love seeing a new notification pop up with a new guest ready to come forward and give us their side of things.

Shawn, I can’t possible put into words without making this comment a novel, how incredible it was to watch this interview. This is the FIRST interview I have EVER seen where I can not only see the respect for the guest but the empathy as well, written all over your face but the most integral part of this interview was that you, the Host, was not interrupting every two seconds with your own “Oh, yeah, I remember when we …. Blah blah blah.” and cutting off the guest mid sentence which of course makes them lose their train of thought and the tempo of the interview goes to hell. I’ll admit that I have seen you in 5 or 6 ten second clips of other interviews that my husband has shown me and this is the first entire interview that he has said “Hon, you NEED to watch this. If you don’t subscribe to this channel after seeing this interview then I’ll never bug you again about the garbage you watch.”. He knows I have been shooting since I was a kid, everyone in my family is Military, Gov’t “attaché”, or Spec Ops Unit with a Police Service and I served for a short period as I graduated too young to go to University so my Uncle had me thrown into the Military under a Youth Program until I was able to get into University so my congenital respect for those that have and are Serving goes without saying. I have looked at some of your past guests and it appears not only do I have some catching up to do but you have some great guests that I have wanted to know the “real/full” story behind what happened to them as well as some I had not heard of but clearly need to, and I REALLY wish my Hubby (32 yr K9) would have introduced me to your YT Channel BEFORE the Summer started! As much as I love to read, I guess your YT past posts will be my Winter project. All in all, your style of interviewing, your mannerisms and most of all your clear love of your former career has brought you here and given you a different perspective on what needs to be heard by “the people” as well as having your elite background has given you an entire new vision on how to assist in the transition of those that have served in worst case scenarios such as you have, and how to truly help them integrate back into this life and learn daily living again which isn’t easy for many. With all of the people you have interviewed and forgive me if you have covered this topic already, but I am wondering if you have thought about interviewing some of the new methods being used to assist ex-military with PTSD and some of these Programs are actually CURING PTSD (I do NOT use the word CURE lightly as I am a Nurse Practitioner with almost 3 decades of care in 11 countries and to have or to fine a “CURE” is a rarity no matter the disease or state of mind that someone has been treated.) and I do not mean programs using Cannabis or Nabilone or EMDR. I am talking about Ketamine, as well as old psychedelics with new therapeutic techniques that are having 97-100% efficacy rates. Just a thought and again, forgive me if it is something you have already covered as this interview is literally my FIRST foray into the mind of Shawn Ryan. Regardless of what you have upcoming, thank you for introducing me to how I have always felt an interview with someone of this ilk should be done, with respect and actually allowing them to speak uninterrupted every 2 seconds. Last but in NO WAY LEAST, Thank you for YOUR Service as for what you have done and are doing with the experience you gained first hand.

Even in our fifties, “paying the piper” seems to be on the menu. I’ll never forget laughing super hard, my orthopedic surgeon told me once when I was mid forty’s and had a broken heel in two places, and had broken the ankle for the second time in four months, He says “you realize you’ve going to be in a lot of pain when you’re older.” I just started cackling like a hen, “What are you talking about doc, I’m in pain now!” He was right, but at least I can tell you when it’s going to rain!🤣

I was thinking the same thing, but the thing still has to be belt fed so what I assume is that they had nothing but the tip of the barrel of that thing sticking out of that pill box and they're just blind firing continuesly. Layers upon layers of sandbags with just enought room to place a hand on the trigger and to reach the loading dock. That and a dedicated gunner who had already accepted death should it come to this. I bet who ever that gunner was probably died of blast damage in the long run.
