Something only another sealcoat individual would know!! We were training this individual on this day and had turned down the pressure a bit. I won't say that we didn't have our share of clogged screens though. We are running 4lbs of sand per gallon. All of the sealcoat that we use comes pre-mixed from Vance Brothers. We did have a large 18k gallon storage tank on site that was continually agitating. Keeping all that sand and latex together is always a challenge! Luckily we were having daily deliveries of sealcoat and didn't experience any issues in our main tank.

Sealcoat will help to extend the life of the asphalt. One of the main reasons that asphalt deteriorates is the sunlight. Sealcoating provides a protective layer to the asphalt. Sealcoating will also help to repel chemicals from vehicles which also deteriorate the asphalt. Sealcoating will also fill in small cracks in the pavement, preventing water penetration into the sub-base. Sealcoating also enhances the look of an asphalt parking lot by turning it black again instead of the oxidized grey color. In colder climates where snow and ice are present, the dark black surface will melt the snow and ice significantly faster than a grey surface. Sealcoat protects the asphalt from oxidizing. The simplest explanation is that sealcoat is sunscreen for asphalt. The sealcoat is protecting the asphalt from UV rays along with normal everyday contaminates left from vehicles. As asphalt ages, it loses maltenes. The maltenes are the binder that hold the asphalt mix together. Sealcoat will protect that binding agent and help to extend the life of the asphalt along with a regular asphalt maintenance program. There are several different types of "seals" to put on top of asphalt. Chipseals, Slurryseals, and Sealcoats are the most widely used and are found across the planet.
