The tone of this theme evokes foreboding, and also implies mystery. I appreciated the call of this song for Chrono Cross's "Dead Sea".

I think I was 10 years old when chrono trigger came out. This game got in the way of my piano practice often in childhood. But to see them together is awesome! ahhh one of my favorites from this soundtrack, often overlooked.. but so beautiful.. that weird time signature where the last beat seems to be clipped off. the heavy feels, those chord changes... definitely Chrono Trigger's answer to Zelda 3's "sanctuary" music.

Yasunori Mitsuda is a legend for composing so many memorable tracks in one game. He is apparently a guest composer for the new indie RPG Sea of Stars -- they must feel really honored to have him compose a track or two for them.
