I make envelopes out of my old calendars and they go through the mail just fine if you use labels and proper postage. I have a large selection of envelope templates I've collected over the years and cut and fold them by hand. Great idea using the cutting machine, thought, so I might have to try that.

@@jenniferfarsh675 Absolutely! When I choose my calendars each year I always consider how they will work as envelopes. If the focal point is too high on the calendar page then it will end up on the flap instead of the front.

Great video. I am a cardmaker, and I have a Cricut. I have used the Cricut for envelopes, but I don't usually. I also have a We R Memory keepers scoreboard that has an envelope maker on the back. It can turn a square of paper into an envelope pretty quickly and it is fun and easy. An 8" square makes an A2 rectangular envelope. But of course there are many ways to achieve this. That is just the way that I found to be fun. And a great use for one-sided printed paper - esp if I don't love the print. I can put the white on the outside and the print will be seen as a surprise on the inside. Even if it is a paper I don't love, it ends up looking cute as the inside of an envelope.

I use a WE R Memory Keepers envelope punch board and it works so well. It’s super easy and fast to make envelopes and they are really nice looking. Less work than having to use a cutting machine. I can easily make at least 100 in only an hour.

I'm a retired letterpress pre press tech and graphic designer - I made custom envelopments as part of my job- Congrats - you cover all the bases - the only thing we did to save on production time is use double sided tape instead of glue- You can store them flat and not fold them until needed. Also I designed envelope liners for just about every job- Your patterned paper would be so cute as liners inside solid color envelopes.

I use old calendars I have used or bought in flea markets, some really great retro papers there. I use an envelope score Tool -a no-brand one, similar to WeR Memory Keepers, which are hard to find where I live. Scoring and folding is a breeze. I use double sided tape as adhesive, also for the end flap. I always get comments and questions from the recipients as the paper designs are so rare. Good for you for using the stash of paper that would otherwise remain ununsed.👍🌞

I love this! I really would love to make my own, so I think this was the sign I needed! I use a lot of flat envelopes for stickers and stuff! With the cutting machine, take a look at the Silhouette Cameo/Portrait - it only uses one tool and it can do the scoring and cutting in one pass, I think they have a patent on that technology by the looks of things! I make sticker sheets with mine as I can change the cut depth during one pass, it's really really good.

Thank you for sharing your template and showing us just how to get started! I am not sure what a punch board is? I guess that it is another thing to look up! I do remember when we had to go to the library, now it seems we just fire up our favorite search engine and go for a walk of discovery online instead of the stacks in the library! Ahh well times change, I hope the human spirit will continue to evolve and grow despite our “modern times” Thanks for the envelope!

I can only speak for Germany/Deutsche Post but I imagine it's similar for other country's postal services. As long as an envelope fits within the size requirements and the recipients address is on there somewhere (and not switched with the senders address) then the letter will most likely make it to its destination just fine. But by making it impossible for the machine to first read the address and then stamp the bar code used for further routing onto the letter you are taking advantage of a more expensive service. The letter has to be sorted by hand so it's no longer the cheapest kind of letter at 85 cents, it bumps it up to 1€. The terms and conditions of your postal company should state how they handle this case but if you can't find it there, just ask them! Then you know for sure and you don't have to send out dark envelopes crossing your fingers hoping it'll make it lolp

The envelopes look awesome, I'm in Mexico and I tried sending a patterned envelope that had a darker background color and they wouldn't accept because any stamps, like inkpad stamps that the post uses those round ones, could get easily lost with the darker background. Something to keep in mind, don't know if that is a Mexican post office thing or a thing everywhere.

I didn’t realize there was a score tool for older models, the reviews on Amazon seem disappointing (didn’t score deep enough), maybe there is more pressure with the Maker model?
@SeaLemonDIY2 жыл бұрын
I think that’s why Cricut came out with the scoring wheel in the newer models. It seems to score deeper and there are different score attachment options for it. I like using it, but I wish it could have its own port so I don't have to keep switching tools 😄
