My single biggest mistake, and I'm still making it after 4+ years is not looking at the minimap often enough. Tunnel vision on one or two enemies is a good way to get sunk quickly. Also, sometimes retreat and sacrificing a teammate is quite ok. And be aware of your own and your enemies capabilities, i.e. firing range, torpedo ranges, radar/hydro availability etc.

With Italian BBs I never bothered with the range mod increase as they can’t hit a thing at distance, and it just means you attract more incoming.

Selling tier V and above ships is a mistake. Yes, you can get some credits fast. But at the end of the year it is the snowflake campaign. When every tier V-VII ship will get you 750 coal. Ships VIII-IX will get 75 steel. And tier X will give you tickets to Santa Claus containers (aka free premium ships). Oh, and if you really really want specific premium ships wait for the Halloween. The black ships are sold at a great discount and they look great.

If you watch the games you will notice ships crashing into each other and crashing into islands. We all have a tendency to stay in sniper view and watch our rounds to gauge the accuracy for the next shot. By doing that we lock in on tunnel vision forget about steering and where our allies and other enemies are whose talking to us and even the location of land mass. Try to pop out of sniper view when in the heat of pursuit and check your surroundings. Maneuvers are crucial to survival and knowing what your ships strengths and weaknesses are. Knowing your enemies ship and her capabilities plus what weapons it carries is huge. Go into settings and change the HUD view to full and you get a ton of information displayed on screen all the time instead of having to go to sniper view to get it.

Those lines have turned a lots of Matches to the better,when typed for teamplayers,by Teamplayers. Of course theres Always those kind of Mates,just caring about their DPM,or being single Warriors. #1. This! Too many idiots do this and then suck at tier 8,9,10. If your avg damage in a Tier 8 is anything below 50k in a T8 BB, you need to learn how to play that ship better before rushing up. For references, look at the DD, BB, CA, CV, Sub Emblem requirements for DDs, CAs, BBs and CVs. They provide a rough benchmark of what you should be doing at T8,9,10. Yeah I know damage isn't everything and PR is better indicator and yada yada, but avg damage says a lot about how well you play a ship. - First emblem damage requirement is the absolute baseline for what damage you should have at T8. If you cant reach it with T8, you are not good enough to move up yet. Improve your gameplay -Second and third are usually achievable through T9s -Fourth is easy to get as a T9-10. .. .. .. .. Or you can choose to suck, lose a lot of your games, get reported every game, make life miserable for yourself and everyone else who has the misfortune to have been on your team.

I agree it's not a team game because we compete with everyone to get the kills, many players will just shoot at the ships that are almost dead. I had one DD run across the map to get the final blow on a BB I was soloing.

Been Playing WoT for over a decade and tried WoW when it first came out I think I got to like tier 5 or 6 but I am thinking about trying it out again. One of my favorite games in high school was Battlestations: Midway on xbox it WoW reminds me of that game.

One addition I would include is make sure that when you're getting a new ship to at least buy a 6pt commander to go in it @900k credits this is worth it. My early days I didn't buy a commander so I have a few ships that have like 4pt commanders and the skills I put on them are not good. For example the ammo switching skill is not needed on any ship because if you have HE loaded, press 2 key then fire a volley when the guns have reloaded you will have AP.

I would disagree with number one mistake. The real game begins starting from tier VIII ships and thanks to gift from my relative. I suck in the begining playing with Tirpitz in the begining but later it make grind easier with German BB. So I replace with map awarness and I still usually caught when for example brawling.

Another good thing about playing a second class is, you learn the problems as well as the threats of the class. A recent game, I was in a DD with a sub ahead of me, sub was spotted by the CV and fighters dropped on top. I proceeded to charge and dropped depth charges on his head when he pinged at probably 30m down, he died.

When really I'm like one of the most experienced Tirpitz players in all of NA with >2350 games in the thing. That and I may be a psychopath when I sail that thing.

I don't know if you can really call it a "mistake" BUT, I would 100% learn to aiming ships in motion. And, imo, the easiest way to do so is by using dynamic crosshair OR just use the monogram one in the modstation or aslains. And then just try to learn ships speed by heart OR also download a mod that shows ships maxspeed (I used to like a mod called "assistant" which showed how many torps and their max speed was when targetted OR showed every visible ships torps and max speed when you press in alt. But I haven't seen it being updated lately, so I dont know if its been removed, or the author just stopped updating it. BUT, some replacements are either sidepanel mods which show speeds of ships or something called along the line of "show ship speed at visibility" something. Basically replaces the number around your crosshair where it shows your concealment with the targetted ships max speed. Very lightweight and non-intrusive mod. I remember as a newbie, I prolly played like 200-500 games before I started to do some research into aiming. Switched to dynamic first, which felt GREAT. It was so much more consistent, but then went even further with the monogram dynamic one, and just starting to hit double or sometimes even triple or quadruple the amount you usually do is just plain up FUN. Missing ships is....well, not fun! And especially if you're in a BB, you just feel so useless and a slow big clump of steel.

I'm gonna give my top 3 because 5 is too many and they can be argued. Number 3, its ok to upgrade your AA at least to some extent, even if its one Commander Spot. Aircraft right now is a major thorn in most players sides because with the addition of Hybrid Battleships, it just made a bad situation even worse. Number 2, STOP PUSHING THE ENEMY SPAWN. 90% of time if you do this YOU WILL DIE. Im not even gonna say anymore about this, it should be self evident why. Number 1, dont YOLO. If you die in the first 2 minutes, especially if you are a DD, you did not help at all. I dont know who started this, but this is the BIGGEST reason, by a long margin, how you rack up losses.

Also a good tip, try out a few different lines before you decide to grind one out. Some lines simply dont work for you, so find something that fits the playstyle that you like. A Yamato is cool, but if you want to rush around and point blank brawl, Yama might not be the ship you have the most fun in. "The" ships that everyone always uses to beat everyone, those are usually a specific playing style. Use something you know how to work with, feels right, and you can beat "those" ships to. Ergo, do a bit of trying out lines, see what works and stick with that.

In a destroyer, make sure you keep an eye on which cruisers have radar and be wary of going into caps until you know where those radar cruisers are. This way, if you do need to smoke up in cap, you won’t be wasting a charge of your smoke consumable.

Good to know that as a just under three month player I have been pretty much doing it right. One thing I know I did not do right is use of flags and economic bonuses. I wasted them early on not knowing how much I would want to keep them for later. Don't put them on your tier IV ship and go and do co-op's all day! Also I would say to look out for any freebie you can find. I have managed to play for nearly three months all on premium time due to this. Combination of campaigns, containers, online offers (steam, twitch etc) and the big one was Verizon giving me 4 months. The one premium I bought with $ was the Perth which steam had on sale for $4.12. I used up the last bit of a gift card for that one.

worst thing a new player game do is having "right now" mentality, given how delayed consequences to actions in this game are. clueless player wont connect dots between devstrike and action 10 - 20 or even more seconds back. new player reacts to what they see: in wot you do peek and get slapped instantly - easy to learn. but here you get slapped by salvo fired 10s in past or torps launched good minute ago other is complete disregard of minimap and basic logical thinking: if I go here and place huge island between me and enemies, which takes few minutes to go around and be out of fight - that completely doesnt weaken rest of surviving ship ... yes we go behind island

I come from WoT and I know and agree with everything here, the core mechanics are very similar. I admit I'm new and I don't know much of the game yet, but I got a nice coupon that gave me a lot of doublons and I have been asking everywhere, so I ask here with the hope of getting some luck and someone woudl help me. I would've put "give attention to THE MAP" in this top. I see players completely ignorant of how's the game is unfolding, it's really concerning... Or wanting to ABSOLUTELY launch torps with your cruiser, giving your broadside to the enemy team, resulting in a devstrike.. I, too, made the mistake when I was a rookie: I bought an Atlanta of all things when I was at Aoba/Omaha. I obviously didn't then understand a THING on the ship's unique gameplay. Now I master her, but this was a steep learning curve :)

The most annoying time for me is the commander thing... i feel to much in disavantage cause most of my commanders are level 8 or 10. The game itself doenst help a lot explaining how stuff works ingame... Am not into clans, i only play for fun and now and them... but its theres an euw or portuguese clan that doenst mind with that i would join.

Stock modules are not always that bad, they boost stats in some extreme examples by just 100HP or torpedo dmg similar way. But when real upgrade, they can improve HP alot, decrease rudder shift time significantly, improve AA guns and can even change number of turrets or gun caliber and reload, number of torps. As I have some credits left to buy some already grinded of few last T10s, I keep early modules on some ships. It is nice to watch armament/squadron difference say on CVs T8 or AA suite on some cruiser. What devs sck in are submarine modules. Have you ever noticed any single change in design when going from hull A to B? If you change torpedoes on some DDs you get even color changed on torpedo warhead, here you get fast design nothing. Historically there were conning tower changes, radar upgrade or deck gun or AA gun. Yeah, most subs AA would be even less usefull than deck gun, but it was there. Probably dev intention not to harrass their another favourite CV class.

I once found a div of 3 tirpitzs and I got worried in my JB since I was on 40k with no healing and I was the last player but I then saw that they didn’t have a clan and where they were on the map. All the way in the back behind the dead CV. Our team has more points so they started to push and turns out 1 was on 30k and the other two were basically full HP. (One of them fired from 18km when I wasn’t spotted IDK why) I kinda of just spammed HE and they started using DCP on 1 fire I just kited and they kept missing. I thought it could not get any worse until one of them went flat broadside towards me from 8km away I’m certain they didn’t have mods(To launch torps or retreat or smth) It was after I fired a HE salvo so maybe they thought that I would be reloading and could get a free shot on. After pressing the funny button and a dev strike we won that game Then one of the messages me saying that I was cheating for dodgeing all the shots and loading so fast. I kindly explained how max reload on arms race and adrenaline rush coupled with Reload booster made my BB reload a DD reload. I said go back to Low tier and have a good day. I lost 20k Hp in that fight and did an additional 80k Sorry for the wiki page of a story I just wanted to reaffirm the idea that buying a high tier premium when you haven’t got much experience isn’t a good idea

WAY back when I first started this game, I would sell off my lower tier ships, why would I need them again, right? Well, a few months into the game, WG came out with a mission ( haven't seen it since, though) that required you to fight in several tiers of ships, of several different nationalities; some of which I had SOLD OFF. Just in case WG ever brings back a similar type of mission, I have not sold off any ships (515 and growing). Also WG has a habit of making Clan Battles in different tiers, not just T10s. Now however, with new ships you get comes with a port slot; and port slots in Battle Pass... if you could sell off port slots (currently 90+ and growing)...

Most established clans have a lot of bonuses for members, it is a lot easier to play while in an established clan as the rewards materially affect the economics of playing the game (many clans don't have any obligations for members, they just recruit new members because the clan gets 10 oil for each container opened by clan members... oil the is the currency clans use for upgrading member bonuses and buying containers for clan members)... For anyone on the WOWs Asian server my clan MYTH has a few spots left for anyone with a 50%+ win rate in randoms, we don't have all the super ship clan bonuses yet, but we have all the others. Prefer people who want to play in divisions / participate in the weekend NAVAL BATTLE event (clan gets more oil from that as well), but no real obligations, we are not hyper competitive (we do not take ourselves seriously) and don't generally do clan battles but hopefully that will change over time.

@@kurotsune77 it's your choice as long as you realise what you are missing... you get bonuses to things like the coal (10%), steel (10%) and research points (5%) received, and type of xp earned (5% ship, 15% commander, 50% free)... researchable ships cost less in credits (-15%) and the post battle service cost is less (-15%). (this is assuming the clan has unlocked these bonuses)... I get what you are saying re not being massively social, I started a clan several years back because I didn't want to have to conform to someone else's rules :-).

The only reason to do every campaign mission is that once you have finished all of them there are some achievements for getting 100%, but these give nothing other than a virtual "well done".

Tip: You don't have to do all the missions of Campaigns, you can repeat the easiest missions to get stars and progess to Expert Commanders. (Yamamoto or Halsey)

The biggest noob mistake I used to make was that I had no idea about angling your armour so I thought that the nose was a big weakspot due to the armour being more thin. so I used to always show flat broadside since I thought that's how I would make the most of my armour.

On #2, I've tried joining a clan so I can learn and get better and group up with people. Clans I was in never grouped up and wouldn't help me get better. I just can't find a good clan that welcomes newer players and actually group up. So I've spent my last 30-45 days of play to just being solo.

When I get a new ship I watch video reviews/replays and I take the ship out in Co-op mode to develop a feel fro it. By doing so, I avoid having my random wr from being totally destroyed while I learn about the strength and weakness of the ship. I wish i had done that earlier, Good Video as always SLM!

Honestly, I bought the Kidd before I had the trot opened up. Yeah, I sucked with it for a while, but it really boosted my own abilities. When I went back down to grind my tier I was a much better player. So it wasn’t all bad.

The second point is kinda big. When I started playing actively, a year or so ago, i played a very close game where we only had to cap and we would've won but i was a noob and didn't know what to do and kept shooting and getting shot at thus resetting the flag. Naturally i was flamed, even after the game. After i told him I had no idea what happened, why he was mad at me and that i was new, first t6 probably, he actually explained and was nice. Communication is key. Many are nice people after all but expect people to be at their level.

Sea Lord, although you are correct about these points, it really lets the devs off the hook of the real fix. Why should new players have to play for 1000 years at tiers 1-5 before getting good ships. Yes, early players had to grind forever, that's not an answer. What happens after those players play for 1000 years at T5 and then go up to T10? They'll still suck. How about 2000 years, they'll still suck. They'll never really catch up to players who played the game since beta, has all the OP ships that you cannot get anymore (or only from a super scarce currency). If we had a skills based matchmaker all problems would be solved, including these issues. The real problem with the game is it is nothing but a troll game. CVs/Subs troll actual PvP players. Veterans with OP ships troll players who are not veteran or who do not have OP ships. Players in a unicum div trolls every team they meet. Problem with a troll game, is there is no place for anyone who is NOT a troll. New players should avoid this game. Casual players should avoid this game. Players who did not join during beta should avoid this game. Basically only the super-unicum players who started during beta and have all the BS ships and are in a BS clan should play the game against others who are exactly the same. Everyone else is just a pinata and not a participant.

Even using the f-key communication is incredibly useful. I think destroyers are not balanced correctly. As soon as a team loses its destroyers, they're at an extreme disadvantage. It's slightly alleviated by carriers, but if there were 3 destroyers per side and one side loses all three while killing 2 battleships and a cruiser, the team with no destroyers has an 85% or more chance of losing even though the numbers are even. Weekends are the worst because the potato destroyers come out in swarms.

The most common mistake I see and I was guilty of doing this when I was a rookie was Don't Rush the Target. These new players when they start out get a DD or an HC and they go full throttle and ram the target. That's good if you are Tier 1 but bad if you are Tier 4 or Tier 5 Never Rush The Target! they will kill you.

Tip: Don't turn off the sound or play music over game-sound. I've lost count of all the times I've been rammed because the other guy didn't hear my horn. I run a "casual clan". Just play and get bonuses. No need to div. up or play clanbattles. I don't get why some players don't want that. Also: Guys who join a clan and then don't play for three weeks. Why join if you're not gonna use it? If you play regulary premium time is the way to go. The funniest noob misstake? Players who FXP:ed up the Pan-Asia DD-line and don't know what a DW-torp is.

How about this one ... Don't play thousands of games at T4 and then when someone in T10 points out your mistakes, you think your 52%-win rate will justify your play. No one is stupid enough to fall for the "Yeah, but I have a better win rate - so I know more that you" argument. Someone who plays 30,000 games at T10 and has a 48%-win rate is probably much better then someone who plays 12,000 games at t4 and has a 53%-win rate.

Please New to WOWS How the "H" do you leave a Division I keep getting the "you are already in a Division ERROR" I am the only "1 of 3" in the division. I am on XBOX X you would think there should be is a "LEAVE your Division" Tab But I see no such tab or cannot highlight any thing that lets Me "Leave" Last night I got an invite from a inebriated Aussie to join his "Division" everything was Just fine we played a few battle then he disconnected and I was left alone in the Division he created !!!!!!! and any attempts to reconnect/invite join his game results in the "You Are already in a Division" ERROR Somebody Please Help !!!!!!!!!!!! I have looked online with no help, I cannot be the only one this has happened to?
