Palpatine planed for Dooku to die by Anakin’s blade, and move closer to the dark side as a result. It was also important that Obi-Wan (the closest Anakin had to a brother) not know about Padmé’s pregnancy, so that Anakin had no one close to him, apart from the chancellor, that he could turn to. These three are messing with Palpatine’s plan.
@JaceMorley9 ай бұрын
@@rafikshaheed4271 It's basically canon at this point that Obi-Wan knew all along and because of what happened with him and Satine was willing to keep it an 'open secret' between the two. Anakin was the one who didn't think Obi-Wan knew and didn't want to tell him out of fear of disappointing the closest thing he had to a father. Part of the tragedy being how Obi-Wan would have been completely understanding, even if Anakin chose to leave the order.
@rafikshaheed42719 ай бұрын
@@JaceMorley first of all, Obi-Wan’s lover was Satine Kryze. Sabine is part of the Ghost Crew. Secondly, It is shown in Episode III that Obi-Wan is aware of Anakin and Padmé’s relationship, but Dooku may not know that he notices it, so is revealing something that would allow Anakin to have a confidant and someone he can turn to for aid. Yes, Obi-Wan knew, but it is possible that he may never reveal this with his former apprentice. Now that it is out in the open (the chancellor, a sith lord and Kenobi are clearly privy to this information), this may prompt Obi-Wan to discuss with Anakin about it and show that he is understanding and that he is someone Anakin could turn to.

The ROTS novelization does a good job of pointing toward another bone of contention between Anakin and the Council. Which is exactly why Sidious told Dooku to get captured and than betrayed him. He knew Dooku could kill Anikin if he didn't fuck around, so he set the plan up for Dooku to be captured by the "evil Jedi" who'd later be freed by the Empire as a loyal hand of the Emperor. But instead, he taunted Aniken, didn't kill him as planned and instead of getting captured he was betrayed by Palpatine so that he could seperate Annie from the Council more. Dooku was probably the only Duelist in the Galaxy who could match Yoda and Sidious in combat. His old age was the only downside, in his prime he was outright better than Yoda with a saber. In was in one of the books that Darth Plagious told Sidious the grand plan would fail if Dooku became Jedi Grandmaster as not only was he at that time better than Sidious and probably Plagious both, but his thoughts about how to be a Jedi were not as dogmatic. @@InSanic13 Not exactly. The novel's version of the events depicts a more detailed version of Palpatine's and Dooku's plan. They had Palpatine kidnapped in order to have Anakin and Obi-Wan recalled from the outer rim sieges, the plan was to lure them to the invisible hand, and for Anakin to "defeat" Dooku and bring him in as a prisoner of war and to have Obi-Wan killed to drive Anakin to the dark side. They were going to paint Dooku as a noble man trying to fight for equality and depict all the heinous war crimes of the CIS onto Grievous. Sidious betrayed this plan, as Dooku wasn't expecting for Obi-Wan or Anakin to be so powerful or skilled. Added on that Palpatine in the novels and the comic version gave Anakin advice on how to use the dark side during the duel to increase his power. Along with Palpatine ordering Anakin to execute Dooku, which is why he's making such a surprised face in the film as that wasn't "their" plan but rather Sidious plan.

In a modern conflict, which the Clone Wars clearly was, killing the supreme leader of the opposing faction is actually a terrible idea. Has been since what, the sixteenth century and tge Renaissance?
@thefirstprimariscatosicari68709 ай бұрын
@@mateuszjokiel2813It depends on the system of governance really. More personalistic ones, like Hitler Nazi Germany, may suffer from a decapitation strike because Hitler intentionally fostered rivalries between his subordinates and the line of succession was never really that clear. Meanwhile, the Republic is still technically a democracy, as well as having a very clear line of succession in place. The Chancellor just has a lot of emergency powers. If he is killed, Vice Chancellor Amedda takes his place, and then the Senate can elect a new one. So, killing Palpatine if he wasn’t also Sidius, wouldn’t stop the war yes.
