Seamless Blending On Your Stamps with Blending Brushes!

Blending brushes are all the rage with stencils, but did you know you can use them to get a seamless ink blend on your stamps as well? This technique makes multi-color stamp inking flawless and it's a great way to stretch your silhouette stamps! I used the stamps from the new Pocket Full of Sunshine card kit to create today's card. I hope you will give this technique a try and share your favorite color combinations!

I've noticed through the years of watching your videos that you automatically make sure the card stock in your Misti is securely positioned in the corner EVERY TIME you re-stamp. It's like it's second nature to you and a habit we all should embrace. You don't make a fuss about it, you just do it and it makes a great difference in the success of your multiple stamping. Without going into lots of detail, the Waffle Flower sticky mat made for the Misti works better. I have the thin sticky mats from My Sweet Petunia and its great at holding the card stock. However, the sticky mat is not sticky on the underside and so the mat will slide. It doesnt negate the need for checking and correcting placement of the card stock. The Waffle Flower mat is thick like a photopolymer stamp. And it totally fills in the whole Misti. It has grip on both sides and the card stock rarely shifts if ever. Hope this helps!

I love the idea of making a date with yourself to just play with stamps and ink. I make 3 x 3 cards, and often I can cut out a small panel from a play session that fits somehow on a 3 x 3 card. So whatever I was working on doesn't have to be perfect in its entirety and it still feels like a useful session with something made at the end.

You can try shrinking down your typical card designs or come up with something all new that would only work on that tiny bit of card front real estate. Great scrap-busters too! I most often make thank-you cards for people who help me with my cancer care, dental care, etc. These little thank-yous are really appreciated!

Finger daubers give good results on this technique, if you don't have blending brushes.

Hey, I made my own "Chuckie" tool with the top of a candle jar, some of those glass shapes used to add around base of potted plant , and a furniture glide cut to shape. Works great! Uh, sorry, but I can't remember the brand name of the candle jar...🤔 Anyway, the glass "lid" is shaped exactly like a Chuckie tool.

I used a Yankee Candle top, had my husband cut a circle out of a thick piece of wood,; I glued and wedged it into the candle lid and covered base with a circle of thick felt. Works great!

It was thumping, or coloring on your stamps with waterbased markers. You huffed to reactivate the ink. That's a fun one!

Question: where you got the lines from the ink cube, could you use gamsha (sp?) to even it out or does that only work with wax products?

Gamsol only works with wax based products. Nothing will move the ink once it's on the paper. It would be great if that worked, right? (I did try it a while back with no luck.)

Question: do you have a separate set of blending brushes for different types of ink (distress vs Gina k or altenew - dye based vs water based ink etc. for example) or different brushes based on color?

I have a set for my Dye Inks, one for Neon Inks and if I had any other brand, I would most likely dedicate a set to those inks. Some people say all dye based inks are the same but that 100% NOT true. Each company works with the manufacturer to develop certain attributes to their inks. Ours has a smoothing agent, others work well as watercolors, but they DON'T have that smoothing agent. I'm not saying that some people say it's fine to mix the brushes, I'm just saying, based on what I know about all of the different additives and properties of what people call dye ink, I wouldn't mix them.

Just keep a separate toothbrush at work. Don't need to carry one back and forth. I keep a travel toothbrush and paste in my desk.
