Man.. I can attest to how serious them DC boys were in the 1980’s coming down from Harlem! NYC was wild in the 70’s & 80’s especially Brooklyn/Bronx dudes.. but once you get outside of the NYC bubble you quickly realize that shit is real in these other cities outside of the 5 boroughs! I touched down in SW DC on MLK around DC Village and Eastover! I was in survival mode off the rip but won my respect! Anyone who really knows DC knows that you’re not really welcomed as a New Yorker but if you’re thorough enough, you will eventually be accepted in time. The DC culture was unique and gogo music ruled the streets! The gogo spots were deadly but fun AF and the DC women were dime pieces! The spots were Chapter 3, Panorama Room, The Black Hole, Ibex, Metro Club, Cherrys, Howard Theatre and East Side! If you survived those DC days of the 1980’s you can feel blessed! 👊🏽💯

NYStateofMind1000 that’s a fact ! Brooklyn alone has a bigger population than Chicago .. I’m sure a large amount of murders throughout the 5 Boroughs go undocumented.. too many people.. The 80's era was off the hook!! Those Gucci sneaks was the shot! If you was young & had them joints on then you was it!! Nike's, Addidas, & Pumas ran about $50 - $65 so they wasn't any where next to Guccis. Plus the Gucci sweat shirts & T- shirts was popping...yes boy!! Gold chains & rings was also hot! Gold was it, you didn't wear silver...that was for the chumps!! Everybody had a piece of gold around their neck...EVERYBODY!! I'm from Philly but living outside of it(Mom met a big hustler), I lived under one of the biggest guys in the city at the time so I saw a different life style. You know you big when people walk up to you and shake your hand(out of respect!). It was fun in the beginning(when hustlers were making money & living good) until the drug wars started. Being a hustler was like working at McDonald's but you got paid more! It became a trend, It was a second job. The game started to move fast in 86'. I remember the young cats were driving the little Honda Accords. No Benzes or Bmws but the little Asian cars. If you was large then those 2 cars came about. They were fast as hell & ran about 12 - 15 thousand...that was nothing for a person getting it($money). A hustler never got the car in his or her name it was always someone elses. And the more beepers you had the more important you were, if you know what I mean. We didn't have cell phones. And you had to have change on you(to use the pay phone). It was a fun but dangerous time. Alot of hustlers got killed or sent to prison. People mostly got killed from stealing money or loss of money(from the person they were working for). The drug game was always meant to be, "A Man's game"....remember that.
