Unfortunately winning WCS isn't just about good dancing anymore, it's also about being nonWhite, nonStraight, fat/ugly, etc. Every division at competitions gives one of the top 3 positions to the best dancers, but the other 2 to some sort of affirmative actions. It's always embarassing to witness. Everyone can see it, but no one talks about it openly. One guy said to me slyly once, "I guess the judges see things we don't" 😂
