Sean Yates wore the yellow jersey in the 1994 Tour De France. Here are a few clips to the lead up to him wearing the jersey. Well deserved.

Woah was he really still rocking downtube shifters in the 94 tour? That's so cool

Yates was old school that way. STI had been in a long time, but he refused to switch from downtube shifters. He wouldn't wear the latest Oakleys, as he felt the previous years were fine. He rarely wore gloves or a helmet, rode with his handlebars tilted downwards, and his shorts and shirt sleeves pulled up. Motorola were provided with bike computers (sponsored I think by Avocet) so he had to have one on his bike. But it wasn't connected as he didn't use them. So many stories about this guy that proved how old school he was. I love that kind of rider, but you don't see that so much now thanks to the culture of carbon fibre, Garmins, power meters......
