As a trained professional musician, who grew up when they played this song during inner city house parties, where folks didn't get shot! A time when folks went out to have a good time and dance, this is without a doubt at the top of the list of the funkiest songs OF ALL TIMES! As a musician every time I listen to it, the complexities of Clinton's vocal arrangements, the genius of Bernie Worrell's musical arrangement, the serious FUNK on the One and of course Phillipe Wynn's incredible vocal vamp and the use of the cuica (what?) no conservatory needed!

The DJ could hardly EVER finish playing this song because the men would RUN the women over or push them off the rail (wall) because they were skating to SLOW doing what women do, "Shake their butts." LOL The dudes would be absolutely ANGERED if you wasn't skating at the speed of sound on the rail. I'm remembering the ambliances made regular trips to the skating rink to peel a girl off the floor because the dudes would mo' down for skating slow on the wall.. LOL This song caused many females to get hurt at the skating rink................but at the club the ladies got EVEN by say NO when the men asked for a dance. Loving this.

Mistress Eventide Solo by Mike Hampton,AKA Kidd Funkadelic.,If you want a guitar solo that's good to your earhole, dig Maggot Brain by the same P-funk crew. Eddie Hazel will make you forget about Carlos****

When I heard this music for the first time I was in a Detroit night club, back in 1979, I just about lost my mind. I don't know who I dragged onto the dance floor, but we vibrated with excitement. To this day, I drop everything so I can dance. The guitar solo is the best of all time and when it bridges back, so so sweet!

I like this song. It makes me happy when I hear it. It will never be obsolete. I like the catchy rhythm and the chord play. I like the part in Good Burger when George plays the demented dancer along with Kel and the other dancers. I'm glad that I was still young when this song came out.

This song brings back great memories in my childhood. I was 15 years old in the 10th grade at Arthur hill high school in Saginaw, Michigan. I will always remember knee deep 15 minutes version. Peace and love always.
