just to clarify, the day that the fish pond makes a request it doesn't produce, but if you don't fulfil the request that day, it CAN produce on future days, so you could collect and complete the request in the same day

You also have to take into account the cost of building a fish pond. Without fishing, the only way to get seaweed is from rare forage, and green algae would be from green slime drops. In my SVE perfection farm I built about 20 fish ponds so I know first hand how expensive the last few fish ponds get. In addition to the foraging, I ended up going out for multiple full in-game days of fishing for seaweed so waiting around for good forage would end up taking decades in-game.

The way Seanie's original video was posed made it seem that its only hypothetically could you and this involves many scenarios that would take hours to achieve ingame and so use cheats. Also because how could a human at level 1 fishing which means a miniscule fishing bar for the fishing minigame be able to get perfect on lava eels.

I'm doing a fish pond farm right now. The quests and production can both happen at the same time (I don't think there is any effect of quest request and production odds). But the problem is getting all of the algae and seaweed needed for the fish ponds. You could get algae without any fishing skill by farming green slimes (not a terrible drop rate), but the only way to get seaweed would be to get it washed up on the beach areas or from the garbage. At 5 seaweed per pond, you would need 250 seaweed for 50 ponds. The seaweed has a 3% chance to spawn every night, so you would get approximately 3 per year. I'm not sure how many you could get per year digging through the trash cans, but not a lot. And that involves actively searching the beach and garbage cans every day (plus time spent in the mine getting the stone and algae), so it would take a huge (impossible?) amount of real-world hours to do the set-up for this.

While it may be true that they will either ask a quest or produce roe, The quest will stay there until it is completed. During that time, they can still produce roe. With fish ponds, if you wait long enough, you could probably get them all to produce a row (or something else) and be excepting a quest. That means you can collect the roe and complete their quests at the same time for more experience.

So it's theoretically mathematically possible, and sure you could probably destroy and reset the ponds as necessary until rng gives you the fish quests, but for the lava eels? Well first of all you're better off doing it at the volcano caldera because you're more likely to hook a lava eel there, but second and more importantly, even on a max luck day with the special charm and maximum possible luck boosts from food and drink, two luck rings, magnets, and a treasure bobber, the odds of you getting a treasure chest with enough eels and having the eel stay still long enough to get it while the catch still being perfect (the lava eel being one of the toughest to reel in in the first place so a perfect catch on its own is largely impossible without god-tier irl luck) are exactly zero. Not improbable. Impossible. Now idk the treasure chest rate offhand with all possible luck boosts, magnet and treasure bobber. Magnet counts as bait but lowers the bite rate so you certainly won't get one every 10 in game minutes. Your best bet would be to pick whichever fish you can obtain from non fishing sources that has the highest quest completion xp, maximize your ponds on those, then find a more realistic fish to catch. Possibly bass at the mountain lake? It IS possible to catch the legend from lvl 7 though because I'm pretty sure it counts buffs when reading if you have the fishing lvl to hook it, so stock up on seafoam pudding. Friends with krobus for the recipe if I'm not mistaken and its ingredients can be obtained without fishing. So with a more realistic perfect catch fish it MAY theoretically be possible to get lvl 10 in one day, but certainly not from lava eels. Oh and note that to even get the iridium rod in the first place you would need a fishing lvl above 1, so you would need another non host player to get it and leave it in a chest for you so you can then take it and destroy their cabin for more pond space.

Sean's original challenge was single-player only, so I wanted to try to do that too. It's worth noting that if it's multiplayer then you can do combat too, since you have access to the slime press, and could get a bunch of slimes all in one spot for a bunch of xp
