make sure you've updated the firmware. with the update if you hold to go in to alt you can control headphone and DI with the master knob. they fixed the hot signal. they also upgraded the model of the fender and a few others to higher quality modelling.

Nice video. Ive been using mine for a year now and I have three major suggestions. 1. download new Ir's. The built in ir's are ok but after loading a new pack (I bought a mastered ir pack from chop tones, the same company that supply the stock Ir's) and it really improved the sound of the unit. Just like the speaker of an amp, an ir can completely change the sound of a modeled amp sound. 2. move the fx loop block between the amp and ir block. I found on my unit that the fx block after the ir block caused an odd clipping noise. lastly, go ahead and turn the di level all the way down. Its just too hot and turning it down will make life easy for your sound guy.

Good tips! I’ve loaded some of my IRs and they are ace comparatively.

Bought this over a month ago. Can attest to the DI output being hot. But this is my must have for ampless gigs. Go more in depth, and you can actually send a signal to front of house and an IR signal disengaged to your amp to have a working signal for FOH to still have a working amp behind you. Kinda wish you'd go more in depth, but that's covered elsewhere... Great review. 👍

Thanks! Actually, the last segment where I run it mic’d up into an amp I did record a DI track but the levels were REALLY hot so the audio was annoying to listen to.

With the latest firmware they did add another -15 of dB to the DI. So you can now run it to -30db

How are the cleans on this (Fender style amps) when playing live?

@@relaxedmax8972 It's pretty clean considering. I use a JC120 cab with a Fender Twin Reverb amp, and it's convincing to my ears at least, depending on the IR's you can find.

XLR output works fine live into a mixer console, just bring it’s level down 12db and hit save, done. That is how we run 2 of these to the mixer and our amps with cabs at the same time. As for send/return, what did you connect to get pops and crackles? I use mine with modulation and delay in the loop, no such issue, did you check that the jacks on the Y-cable are tight? If you wan’t to adjust more parameters than what holding the right footswitch adds you can do so by adding a usb midi host and a midi controller, but honestly, if you need to adjust that live on stage between songs it’s probably the wrong unit, a multi fx board with amp sims and ir or cab emulation might be better. If you need to adjust from stage to stage the problem lays elsewhere.

What does Ir stand for and what special leads do you need to go into a lap top ? A guitar type cable with USB? This is all new to me. Do you need any other box to go into a laptop?
@JoeBaermann
@JoeBaermann 5 ай бұрын
@@justice100forwin2 IR stands for Impulse Response, it is a capture of a mic’s speakers frequency response, can sound more accurate than a cab simulation. The NGS-6 can be connected via USB, it has an USB C port, I prefer to use a good external audio interface with a solid ASIO driver though, but both options work.

@@justice100forwin2 For PC? Behringer U-Phoria UMC204HD, Focusrite Scarlett Solo 4th Gen or Audient iD4 MKII all work fine with their latest firmware and drivers. I just switched from a 16 input rigg to an Audient iD4 MKII, since my live and recording rackmixer has tons of inputs and more, so needed something small to avoid always having my rack powered up. The Audient sounds good and is powered via USB-C, so need for an additionel power supply connected to it if you have an USB-C port. The other two might have some features and software bundles.

I've had it for about 2 months. It is really really good. I have a Boss GT-1000Core. I prefer the amp sounds I'm getting from the Nux to what it offers. I use the Boss as a multi-effects box and for my bass. The Nux Twin and Marshall are just superb in my opinion. The reverbs and dirt effects in the Amp Academy are surprisingly good as well, especially the reverbs.

@SeanPierceJohnson
@SeanPierceJohnson 9 ай бұрын
Thanks man! Glad your liked it. I’m sure you could easily record to your phone with the appropriate cable. I’ve never tried it myself but I don’t doubt it’s possible. I used to record audio to my phone with an IK Multimedia iRig 2, which was just a small interface for iOS devices. But it wasn’t much more than a cable going into the phone and a box to plug in headphones and a 1/4” cable. One thing to keep in mind is that the Apple Jacks (haha) allow for Output AND Input. So whatever cable you get will need to be cable or that. I haven’t seen anything like an XLR to Lightning or XLR to 1/8” TRS+ (what I call the 3 lined cable plug as I have no clue what it’s really called).

How it actually works - if you change settings in app does it store it as a preset in the stompbox itself? I mean - I tweaked my sound in the app with Twin Reverb for example treble control on 3 o'clock and than unplug the device while my trebel control is set on noon and what happens when I dial the tone on the unit now?
@SeanPierceJohnson
@SeanPierceJohnson Жыл бұрын
If you make tone changes in the app, you need to Save that sound on the pedal before unplugging otherwise that sound will be lost. You click the Floppy Disk icon on the App OR Hold the Scene foot switch until the light stops blinking (+/- 3 seconds). Changes in the app are stored in the pedal.

Just taken delivery of an NGS6. Manual implies it is just plugged in and links to PC, DAW and Editor app. It doesn't ! None of those recognised the unit. Tried updating drivers but that didn't help. Took me half a day any several emails to the supplier and NUX before finding out that I had to ignore the message on the software updater that says the NGS6 could not be detected before updating the firmware. Why do I have to do that anyway? Surely the supplier - Artist -and/or NUX should ship a turnkey product. It's not for Customers to make things work! After updating and trying many combinations within the editor found that NO combination was to my liking. The only good thing about the NGS6 is that it is a nice clear i/f into my Reaper DAW. Otherwise I don't like it at all!
@SeanPierceJohnson
@SeanPierceJohnson 2 ай бұрын
man, i'm sorry you had so much trouble with it. that was not my experience with it at all...it was plug and play. i do want to make one point though: you brought up the "Artist" and imply they should ship a "turnkey product". As the Artist in this scenario, my responsibility is to represent the gear as I experienced it, which I did. But no artist is responsible for a companies product not performing in the fashion the company is claiming it to perform. the responsibility is solely on the manufacturer.
