I appreciate when creators like yourself are upfront about these things, also Patreon and what its purpose is for your channel. If you want to make suggestions patreon only it's important to make that clear and I can respect it. I'll support for the genuine-ness alone, that fact that your videos are well made is a nice bonus.

Your move coincided with my move as well. I was really enjoying your content as I just found you a few months ago. Then I ended up moving to Japan in October, so I can relate to your changes too. Congrats on all your success so far Sean. Thank you for being you. Looking forward to what's coming next!

Don't burn yourself out making vids or it might become less fun the more it becomes a job. Enjoy your well deserved vacation! The quality of your vids is consistently great so don't worry we'll keep watching! I would request some Net Yaroze games (but I think you've suffered enough with the Cryo games :D ).

Thank you, yeah the fact I don't rely on these videos to pay my bills is somewhat of a blessing in a way, sure it's hard work but I never feel like I'm making them because I have to. Net Yaroze will get its time to shine someday, probably when I've played too many good games in a row and I need something to balance it out :D

Nice channel update video. I’m looking forward to the Christmas special, as well as the day the wheel lands in Wu-Tang Shaolin style. That League Of Legends story was really cool. Congratulations on that victory. The only thing I’ve ever won was a local Halo, and a local Tekken tournament. I’m glad your move to the UK has been nice so far. My wife and me took a chance durning the pandemic as well and sold our stuff and moved into a RV. We travel full time now and I wouldn’t change that for anything. We’re closing in in a year moved now ourselves. Thank you for continuing to release all these amazing videos. Looking forward to all the future has in store for this channel. Stay safe and happy gaming 😊.

Man, it has been an absolute pleasure seeing you succeed like this. I'm glad I got in on the ground floor and we collaborated when we did, before you got too big for me (KIDDING!!! I kid because I love. Seriously, though, that collaboration was a ton of fun; just putting it out there, if you ever wanted to again on a project... 😅). It makes me really happy to see how far you've come and know that you're going to go even further - I'm also just glad that you're going to be taking some time off, because I totally understand how bad burnout can get. Also, just need to say OMEGA BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Although, really? Legend of Dragoon and Jumping Flash over Parasite Eve?! I also just want to say that I'm sorry I haven't jumped on Patreon yet; the last while has been... Let's be polite and call it 'rough'. Please don't take it as a value judgment or anything. I would if I could. Anyway, I'm off to go try some Lucozade and film it for posterity. Or a KZbin Short. Either way, Lucozade.
@SeanSeanson
@SeanSeanson Жыл бұрын
Lucozade, yes! Enjoy :) Honestly thank you for all the support throughout my time here, one of the nicer things about KZbin is getting to interact with such a large group of folks from all across the globe and working with you has always been one of the highlights! Learned a lot during those times, so thank you :) And don't forget I'm still yet to play the original Parasite Eve and the series 'kinda' already made its way off the PS1 onto the PSP so it has been freed from the shackles of the console. Plus if I was considering PS1 series that had already made it off the console, but needed to see a modern iteration my answer would have 100% been Syphon Filter... can't believe they still haven't made a modern Syphon Filter tbh. Looking forward to that Lucozade short, I'll have my eyes peeled for sure 👀
@MakopoweredGaming
@MakopoweredGaming Жыл бұрын
@@SeanSeanson 😮You haven't given Parasite Eve a shot yet?! Okay, while I still have the chance, can I add that to the wheel, if it isn't there already? Also, hard agree on Syphon Filter. The last one we got was... Logan's Shadow, wasn't it? And that was a PSP/PS2 game (Lord, I'm old...). Honestly, I'm not sure how much you learned from me, because your videos have always been fantastic, but thank you, I appreciate the compliment. It has always been, and always is, a pleasure working with and chatting with you, and the support you've shown me is amazing. I just hope I'm reciprocating in kind. And yes, Lucozade! Probably this weekend, but Lucozade!

Being a fellow PS1 content creator like yourself, its great to see the momentum from all the hard work you do which is thoroughly deserved & yea a small break is also well needed as this KZbin thing can consume you for sure. Trying to find a balance can be tough but you have a great channel & community so you will be in a good place to take some time to yourself. We'll still be here when you return LOL. I really enjoy watching the videos as you can explain things in ways that I wouldn''t think of plus I love the jokes & sense of humour, always makes me laugh! The games you mentioned are great picks & deserve more attention, Legend of Dragoon is awesome & even Chaos Break for me as I owned it back in the day & yes it is clunky but I don't think it is a bad game, I enjoyed the exploration & puzzle solving, plus I love the cheesiness of the whole game, I think its cool. Again great video will look forward to the next one!

Unique content, visually distinctive video sequence and passionate personality (not to mention integrity and consistency) - all that makes your channel outstanding in many eyes. Also, be aware that many creator tend to fall into the trap of viewers suggestions. Creator makes unique content -> gets popular -> fans suggest changes -> creator changes content -> content becomes less unique due to properties of mass consciousness. Not that any suggestions are bad but creators seem unable to resist steering the wheel all the way to the side. Always rest and take breaks when feel like it. In my eyes you are a real chronicler of video game industry, a time keeper.

Really appreciate the kind words, thank you! And don't worry, I'll only ever put out a video if it's something that I find interesting to work on or present to people. You tend to do your best work if it's something you actively care about, and that's a simple philosophy I'll always subscribe to.

I asked about this not too long ago, why there's no PS1 dedicated channels like others focused on SEGA and Nintendo. Back then we had the Saturn and it was our best choice at the time, absolutely fantastic console in all aspects, a few years later, my older brother got a PS1 and we enjoyed both consoles for many years past 2000+. The thing is, SEGA fans are loyal and I've followed many Master System/Mega Drive/Saturn/Dreamcast channels, but how come the behemoth PS1 doesn't have a dedicated channel? I mean, among 100+ million fans from the golden era of gaming, how I come across more often dedicated content to systems that are, in comparison, less popular? KZbin recently suggested the Squaresoft video you made and it's the first one I watched, so now I'm watching your other videos and enjoying them a lot. And if you plan on expanding the same format for other consoles, I'm sure it will be really well received! Thanks and I look forward to your new content! I noticed there's a compilation you posted recently, I dig it, if you plan on making more compilations from past videos, they'll be much easier to follow.

Look, livestreams are terrible in terms of content, and don't let anybody tell you otherwise. They're too long, full of unentertaining padding, and you have to have _actually watched it live_ to get the full appreciation of it. I'm used to content being on demand, but not when _it_ demands I watch it _now and only now._ That said, if you _must_ dedicate the very last of your free time to monetisation, I've heard that Floatplane is the best choice right now.
@SeanSeanson
@SeanSeanson Жыл бұрын
I'll be honest I'm not much of a livestream guy myself and its why I sideline them in favour of having extra time to work on videos here on KZbin. It'll just be a temp thing to let me chat with people over the break and talk about some games in a different format, they wont get in the way longterm, don't worry :)

Ya know Sean it might be a fun idea to visit your friends & fam & see if they'd be privy to the idea of being on KZbin for a "retro game night" where you could review retro multiplayer games with your loved ones and get funny feedback and reactions. Kinda a win win and reliving those memories would be a blast. It can be b roll footage without any script. We love your opinions and it would be grand fun seeing you and some highschool buds reminisce over SmashTV or GoldenEye deathmatch with some beers while talking about life in Ireland in the 90's. Not to impose on your vacation and family time, but you might be able to incorporate both. At least enough for some casual fun while you were away vids molded around your plans and not as part of them.

In regards to what you said around 19:00 the channel becoming PS1 focused, it's probably the biggest reason I'm here. The other reason being you were playing PAL region stuff. I am an American and though I had a PS1 later, I played way more of N64 and later the PS2 library. Years later I find PS1 games have a certain atmosphere and special sort of quality to them that make them worth exploring. Not to mention I grew up (and still live in) North America, so getting your opinion on these titles and your region's release is very interesting. Thanks to video games I got into a lot of, how should I say, European Electronic? Stuff like Trance, Breakbeat, and all the other crazy EDM genres you can think of through games like Rollcage for example. My taste in game music when it comes to these fast paced electronic tracks seem to fall in line more with Europeans than my own countrymen who a majority of don't really care for it. I hope you keep doing what drives you and if you want to branch out to other platforms and stuff I think that's fine. I'll always like the PS1 focused stuff. If you want to go into PS2 I think that's really cool and I'll continue to watch because It has an enormous library and there are countless awesome games that I could still boot up and enjoy. Thanks Sean. Take it easy as much as you can. Enjoy your month of JRPG.

Appreciate that Mr. Parappa! Don't worry no matter which way the channel goes, my biggest interests have always been the weird and unknown titles. I've watched a ton of KZbin gaming content over the years, most it from North America and after a while it can sometimes feel like you've begun to see it all, so I hope to always offer something new and interesting whenever possible! (With a lil dash of European electronica of course 😉)

I totally get the need to take a break. I founded my own personal channel on doing (really cheesy) comedy skits. Overtime though, I started transitioning to gaming, even though my family never really watched the gaming videos, and my family was pretty much my only audience. I started feeling the skits were more of a burden than anything else, to the point where I dreaded having to film them, so I made a finale and stopped to focus on what I love, gaming. Since then I’ve actually starting getting more and more viewers, and even back when I did skits I still recall taking October off completely, and now, I’ve recently peaked at 60 views for one video. The decision to take a break from a creative job or hobby is hard, especially when you feel dedicated to it, but it’s a wise one. Always put your mental health at paramount my friend, I think you made the right choice

In all honesty though, I really enjoy watching your videos about classic ps1 games and hidden gems. I never knew about so many of them and your videos are not only entertaining and often funny, they have heart and passion and it comes across. It’s the kind of content I would love to do myself, but I’m just not good at finding the right balance of time investment and result. What I’m trying to say is: i have a good understanding of how much work this is and I really appreciate the effort. And come January I would consider joining your patreon. You are one of very few people I genuinely enjoy listening to even during channel updates XD Discovered your channel only recently (with the every Square game video that popped up in my recommended), But I really, REALLY love your work, partially because the PS1 was a huge part of my gaming childhood, partially because I also have a love for the obscure, but for the most part, because your videos are just that bloody fun to watch and listen to ^^ PS. And if it's OK to drop these here, would love to give some wheel suggestions: For obscure - Thousand Arms For Japan exclusive - Voltage Fighter Gowcaizer Hope you'll have fun with these in case either one gets chosen by the wheel ^^

@@SeanSeanson Let's just say, I cannot understate how impactful the PS1 was in my home country of Poland. Long story short, before PS1 most homes either had microcomputers, mostly C64, Amiga, or the very rare gaming PC, or the "Pegasus", an officially released bootleg Famicom. We had none of the fancy SNES or Genesis that most other countries had, so when the mighty PS1 dropped here, it was a truly massive leap, and is to this day a very special console for those who grew up in the 90s here. So with that in mind, your channel and your take on the more obscure and forgotten PS1 titles, is something really incredible for someone like me.

I like chilling out to your videos, whether I watch 5 minutes at a time or get through a full video in one sitting. Found your channel after getting the Namco video in my recommendations, watched most of your videos by this point. Your channel is criminally underrated, as the video quality is consistently high, your commentary is entertaining and seems to hit that nostalgic spot for me, even though I didn't even have PS1 in my childhood. I don't usually comment on any videos at all, but being a small creator myself on another platform, I know just how important getting some encouragement is. I hope you get more well-deserved exposure and your work pays off. Take as many breaks as you need, I'll be patiently waiting for new content to come!

Hey Sean, I dont know if this has been brought to your attention but many people including myself use youtube videos for sleeping... I usually watch the videos I like first and if the audio is normalized and there are no big noises or people screaming I will add them to the various playlists I have and keep them on repeat every night. So thats also a way I found to support the channels I like! So my advice is to continue doing your videos like you do, be youself, but normalize the audio for folks like me hehe big big hug from Uruguay
@SeanSeanson
@SeanSeanson Жыл бұрын
Appreciate it friend! I'll work on that. Just out of curiosity, in my usual videos I usually keep the dialogue at a base level, but increase the volume slightly (roughly 3db to 6db) for gameplay/music just to increase its punch without it being overbearing. Is it just those parts that stand out, or other parts I might not be aware of?

So oddly enough, after I finished watching the video with Daddy Magic, KZbin told me to watch Channel Update 2. So I do that and a few hours later, you upload Update 3. Kinda funny seeing you say you aren't ready for a Patreon and then seeing you say you've had one set up for a few months now, all within a day. That said, I'll definitely throw you a couple of bucks. Can't wait for those PS2 videos! Have a couple of quick questions though: Is there a public list of games on the viewer wheel? I'm pretty sure Jade Cocoon is on the list, but.. yeah make sure thats on there. And Tails of the Sun. Not sure if I'd qualify it as good but it certainly is weird and obscure. Also, is there a list of the games you've reviewed? If not, maybe that could be something on the patreon.
@SeanSeanson
@SeanSeanson Жыл бұрын
Thank you! On your questions 1. You can view the list here if you like, both the games you suggested are already there, so I'd say go with something new unless you'd like to double up on either. It's up to you :) docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1uaJUnW0P9DBn6aDxAgwC6wsZkM0145bfVeX1fUyvsY8/edit?usp=sharing 2. There's no list of the games I've reviewed currently, but once I have time to arrange it I'll try to get a basic website set up where people can access such info.

I was thinking about asking for R-Type Delta for the Obscure and Forgotten Section (I was the person who asked for Gradius Gaiden for Japan only section) but not sure about it cuz probably the game is known or probably just an excuse to see your thoughts about R-Type as it’s my most favorite shootem up series next to Thunder Force and not going to suggest V cuz while I like the game it was pretty easy and it doesn’t really compare to the 2 Mega Drive Installments and it was my first game to No Miss on Master and there isn’t a lot to talk about V cuz yeah the game looks rough does have one of my most favorite osts so I think R-Type Delta is a better pick since there’s enough to talk about with this game
