@@carl-johanfougstedt199 I totally get it and So Fine is a great album! For me it was such a shock to see a Finnish band featured in British Metal Hammer magazine. They gave Torcha a 5/5 review and called the band "the new Faith No More" 😂 It was the first time a Finnish band was praised like that abroad. When So Fine was released they called it a disappointment and never talked about the band again. I liked that album very much too but I kinda felt the genre swapping was a bit forced. Like combining Sámi girls' yoik with techno beat and thrash metal. I mean enough is enough! 😅

Lesgoo, that's what we've been waiting for! This band is special to me (maybe even in my top 5) and they're one of the few thrash bands that revamped their style and still put out classics! My list: 15) Renewal. I can't stand it, have never been able to sit through more than a few songs. Mille's vocals are awful, production's annoying. 14) Cause for Conflict. Only slightly better, but still not worth anyone's time. 13) Endorama Again, interchangable. Even with all the whispers & vocal nonsense, it's more passable to me. 12) Outcast Well, Phobia is a live staple (pretty solid for only 3 riffs), some other industrial stuff here, almost Rammstein-esque. It's just there. 11) Hate Uber Alles Their worst album in decades. Production is super uneven, choruses lazily dumbed down. I love the title track, but that's it (Demonic Future & Killer of Jesus are OK). 10) Terrible Certainty From here on I think these are good albums. If they re-recorded this one with modern production, I'd place it higher. Behind the Mirror, title track are great. All songs sound a bit... Clunky. 9) Hordes of Chaos The title track is a classic. Like Demon Prince, War Curse, other stuff is just meh, but still a decent album. Has a "live sound" to it, like Maiden's Final Frontier. 8) Enemy of God Violent Revolution 2.0 with some better songs, but less consistency. Highlights: Title track, Suicide Terrorist, Impossible Brutality, Under a Blackened Sky. 7) Violent Revolution I think they did better albums in this style, but it's a strong album. Reconquering the Throne, title track, Ghetto War, All of the Same Blood, Second Awakening, System Decay are great! 6) Extreme Aggression I actually don't care for half of the songs here, but the rest is fantastic! Title track, Betrayer, Fatal Energy... Great production, drumming , some stone cold classics, but some albums are even better! 5) Endless Pain Banger fun, even if some songs aren't that memorable or strong, I'd still spin this whole album. Flag of Hate is my favorite Kreator song. Ventor vocals are fun, Mille sounds black metal here! 4) Coma of Souls This one I keep revisiting, because even the less known tracks are great! The 1st half virtually perfect, 2nd half has Agents of Brutality & Material World Paranoia, so still killer! 3) Pleasure to Kill Their most memorable record, I just don't feel the need to re-listen to it. The production is so cool, feels like Ventor is playing with skeleton bones instead of drumsticks! Album cover is perfect! 2) Gods of Violence Yes, I actually prefer this to Pleasure to Kill now, it's just more fun to revisit, has more variety, memorable solos, great hooks (albeit simple). And it got me into Kreator. 1) Phantom Antichrist Bonus track version is a must with Wolfchild & Iron Destiny! I just love pretty much every song here. YOUR HEAVEN... MY HELL!!!

I definitely will not be doing a thorough ranking right now - as I haven't spent a whole lot of time with most of them yet. I do agree that most of their '90s albums are not up to the par, but this is typical of many thrash bands all over the world. Most of them had badass music earlier in their careers, as well as more recently - with their mid- period stuff (late '90s/early 2000s) being mediocre. I really dig their first four albums, as well as everything they've done in the 21st Century so far. I actually own their last two, Gods of Violence and Hate Uber Alles. Kreator is one of my favourite thrash metal bands, they have a very consistant catalogue which I usually divide into 3 parts: the classic thrash period 85-90, the experimental period 91-99, and the modern period 2000-present day. I prefer the most recent era because their music has become more complex and has more melody. The early albums are fine but too extreme for me, except Coma of Souls which is great and more accessible. The 90's era is just horrible, I don't even rank those albums. And the last one from 2022 I haven't heard yet. So here's my list: 1. Enemy of God 2. Violent Revolution 3. Coma of Souls 4. Phantom Antichrist 5. Gods of Violence 6. Terrible Certainty 7. Pleasure to Kill 8. Endless Pain 9. Extreme Aggression 10. Hordes of Chaos

Hordes of Chaos at #1, interesting... Do you really like how this album is produced? I'm just curious because I can't listen to this album without having a headache, it's so loud and overproduced.

@@ffghfdsgfgdgsfhgsf I never had problem with production of Hordes of Chaos and quallity of the songs speak for themselves. Album is mixed by Colin Richardson and that men can't go wrong. All Kreator releases from 2001 onward are masterpieces in my book (first five releases on the list are actually all number one), with exception of the last one (Hate über Alles) which was a little letdown.

@@MegaModulator I like the songs on "Hordes" too but I can never get through the terrible production of this record, it reminds me of Slayer's "God Hates Us All" in terms of aggressive loudness. I wish this record had been produced by Andy Sneap who was responsible for the previous two albums which I absolutely adore.

@@ffghfdsgfgdgsfhgsf You'll be glad about this news: "German thrash metal veterans have a new box set compiling their 2005 album “Enemy Of God” and its 2009 follow-up “Hordes Of Chaos“. Both albums have newly been remastered for this release, which has been lined up for May 24th. Among the included offerings are bonus tracks, plus a 2005 live set captured at the annual ‘Wacken Open Air‘ festival." Sorry for the late response...

Did you mean Mille tried to sound on Renewal (1992) as Metallica on The Black Album instead? because Load was released in 1996. Although I think he was trying to go more for the hardcore vocals during that era. I have been a fan since Please to Kill but I will take the middle era over the last few albums., which sounds boring and super clean. Cheers !

Compared to: - Scorpions' "Pure Instinct" and "Eye II Eye" - Helloween's "Chameleon" - Accept's "Eat The Heat" - Metallica's "Load", Endorama is not that bad.

Endorama was a little different, I don't hate it though.

Seems to me they adopted some of the tropes of power metal on later albums with the “epic” chorus’s. Not digging that vibe at all. The vocals are a big turn off nowadays. I miss that aggressive screeching he used to be the master of. I agree that some of the middle period albums are a bit wonky sounding although I really enjoy Renewal for the bleak atmosphere. Surprisingly I really loved Endorama. I f’n love the riffing on Shadowland. I’ve always been a huge fan of Coroner so Tommy joining was a big deal to me but it seems the wasted his talent. There is a new wave vibe I have a soft spot for. Surely not a popular opinion but it is what it is. The cream of the crop for me is Terrible Certainty, Extreme Aggression and Coma of Souls. The early albums were great for the time but didn’t age well for me.

Those albums like Renewal and Cause for Conflict and Endromada did nothing for me though Outcast had Phobia so it’s good for that one song at least. The 85-90 era was top notch and as far as the “comeback” period goes I really liked Violent Revolution but everything after was just okay or in the case of their past few sounded a bit too Gothenburg for me. Protector (also from Germany) keeps getting better but Kreator is sounding more like Arch Enemy which I’m not too fond of. My ranking from worst to best Endromada Renewal Cause for Conflict Outcast Hate Uber Alles Gods of Violence Hordes of Chaos Phantom Antichrist Enemy of God Violent Revolution Coma of Souls Extreme Aggression Terrible Certainty Pleasure to Kill Endless Pain

Finally something for me 1. Coma of Souls 2. Extreme Aggression 3. Terrible Certainty 4. Pleasure to Kill 5. Cause for Conflict 6. Endless Pain 7. Renewal 8. Violent Revolution 9. Phantom Antichrist 10. Outcast Btw Ventor is not on every Kreator album. Mille is the only member of this band that's on every band's release. btw Renewal doesn't sound awful,if you want polished sound go and listen to bon jovi.

It sounds terrible...come on. Even the first album, as raw as it is, sounds spectacular next to Renewal. Worst sounding drums and guitars of any Kreator album.
@AlexDizzys10 ай бұрын
@@seaoftranquilityprog according to Mille they wanted more underground sound and with those songs it works. The songs are very good in fact (Karmic Wheel, great oriental riffs and those eerie Budd Dwyer words in the background). More memorable and not as cheesy as their last efforts. I remember when it came out I wasn't a huge fan of this album cos I expected another Coma of Souls but now I enjoy Renewal. Plus, Coma of Souls at 10.... well...

Back in the 80s I definitely didn't like the vocals. Over the years I've come around on harsher vocals, but I just don't like this guy's voice. That being said, they were good when I saw them open for Mercyful Fate in 2022.

The only thing that really surprised me on your ranking is "Hordes of Chaos" being over "Violent Revolution"... I've never liked "Hordes" because it's sooo overproduced, so loud and noisy that I can barely listen to the music without having a headache. It's literally painful. What an awful sounding record. The production is just terrible. I wish they had kept Andy Sneap because Moses Schneider completely ruined this record in my opinion. "Hordes" reminds me of albums like "God Hates Us All" and "Death Magnetic" which were involved into infamous volume wars and therefore have the same production issues.
@ffghfdsgfgdgsfhgsf10 ай бұрын
Obviously all their 90's albums suck, they are just awful. So clearly they are at the bottom of the list. I've listened to them maybe once and never come back. And the first four records are predictably the top four, I can agree with that. It's a popular opinion among the fans. Although I prefer their later stuff in recent years a lot more. They have more melody and complexity compared to the early ones. I just don't find those early records fascinating any more. They are good for what they are. But today they sound dated to me.
