As a Chihuahua owner, I believe this is preparation is exclusively for enemies.... which is anyone not in the family pack... or if you are in the pack, but abandoned it by going to the store, mailbox, school, work, or anywhere on the other side of the door.

Going on the other side of the door without the said chihuahua, to be precise. It carries a pee and poop sentence on the offender's footwears and/or beddings. 😂

a lot of dogs would do that, if you corner them so that they cannot remove them selves. I recommend lucking into how you'd train a cat to accept grooming and health checks. Because in that training the focus is on densensitizing the animal instead of forcing obedience, and ideally trying to help them enjoy it if possible. Since a lot of traditional dog training is based around obedience, it is not helpful, when dealing with dogs, that are afraid or feel a need to protect their autonomy.

Well I actually know a little bit about cadaver and search dog training. For starters you never train them for both. Not because the dog can't can't do both but because it's more confusing to law enforcement and juries. Another main difference is tracking, which is a specific person that has left their "scent" (really your dead skin flakes! ) on stationary ground. This is normal for search and rescue. They can smell the dead skin flakes anywhere from 12 ft to 20k depending on things like breed (Bloodhounds with the top sense of smell is much farther but many many other breeds and mixes are common in this field), training and the environment. Underwater or through rivers is tricky because the current can carry the scent but a dog was recorded identifying a scent under *98* feet of water! Though normally I have heard numbers around 25. Cadaver dogs are more commonly "air scent" trained where they are not looking for a scent of a special person and generally don't have a starting location. But it's not limited to air they have been recovering victims from as far as 40ft below ground! They have even been able to help locate fingerprints that are over a week old! Also if search and rescue dogs don't find most of the people alive they have been known to suffer from depression. So in some situations (I believe the first time I heard of it was 9/11) that after the search is over people would hide and let the dogs "rescue" them. ❤️‍🩹 Dogs are so incredible, from a terrorist attack to an avalanche they have our back!
@janetcallanan7020
@janetcallanan7020 11 ай бұрын
Yeah I've also heard that they get upset dejected and sometimes depressed if asked to do rescues where they don't either find someone or find but the people are deceased it stresses them out they apparently feel they failed 😢so handlers allow them to "find" people how great are dogs

@@carabiner7999 Yes! Thank you, I have seen plenty of chi's that were great and well behaved because they are socialized and exposed to well life, lol. It's easy for smaller dogs to get freaked out sure, and I get the compulsion to protect your baby and totally remove them from the situation. But when owners constantly just pick them up when they start barking, it just kind of re-affirms to the dog they should be scared of that thing. Not really Chihuahua's specifically but just the "purse dogs" treatment and acting like that's all the training that's needed. Plus I feel bad for the dogs, that are basically living in fear of every new experience.

We had another cat, sweet as can be that had some dog tendencies, but i think that was more likely because when she was a kitten our German Shephard / golden retriever mix acted very motherly to her.

A family member has a chihuahua/dachshund mix and yes, the nose never fails them ...but what both chihuahuas and dachshunds EXCELL at is in sizing people up INSTANTLY and 100% accurately. They KNOW who is good for treats. They will not waste their time on uncle Joe, who is a hardass and doesn't know the word treat. No, they focus all their attention on Nana. And on any babies walking around ...because babies spill food, drop food and willingly share food. I love how a dog like that can figure each person out in seconds and remember from year to year that Aunt Rachel, who they only see at Thanksgiving, never eats very much and routinely slips most of her turkey under the table ...where it is appreciated. Or that Great Aunt Maggie's hands shake, so by her chair is usually a rewarding place to wait. Or that cousin Tammy startles easily, so when she comes back from the kitchen with a snack, a loud bark from a place of concealment WILL result in her dropping that grilled cheese sandwich. So smart. So ruthless.

My mom’s chihuahua was totally Mom’s dog. I was the only member of the family pack allowed to sit with my mom on the sofa. My ex-husband was #1 on Ginger’s hate list, he tormented her every chance he had, just like her would with me. Anyway, great video, always spot on with the doggo descriptions.

@@elainehill6504 to my knowledge Tito never bit anyone but he would sit in her lap & growl at anyone who was visiting He was a gift from a neighbor family who were transferred to the UK & couldn’t take him with them. Apparently he liked it when she visited them so they offered him to her before looking to rehome him elsewhere

Chihuahuas are the only dog I could never socialize. So many chihuahua owners get so much shit about not socializing their dog, but honestly, it just can’t be done sometimes. I spent hours trying to socialize mine and she started being aggressive to ppl outside her pack as young as 8 weeks old. And I spent more time with her than any other dog I had trying to socialize her and I’ve had bully breeds, Dobermans, Shepard mixes, all sorts of breeds that have a reputation as “dangerous” dogs. They were easy to socialize with no problem. My chihuahua was born with the hate of 9 Hells for anyone outside of her pack. But she was the absolute sweetest angel with me tho And so obedient and so eager to please. On the other hand, my bully breeds loved everyone and were just the most well adjusted dogs... that said they were not so obedient or eager to please.. they just loved playful anarchy 24/7 😂😂😂

I am currently owned by a Chihuahua and a Chi-Weenie --- The Chi-Weenie is made from light and love -- Sweetest girl ever....... Her 'brother' is best described as 5 pounds of dog with 50 pounds of attitude. He's a real charmer... except when he's not inclined to be. Fortunately he's easily bribed with food.

My current dogs are a Yorkie and Pomchi and the Pomchi must be unusual. It's my first Chihuahua. He's got the adorable apple head and face but a little chunky monkey body and the Pom type fur (although I keep him shaved down except for his little ruff and tail. Anyway, he's so laid back, sweet, let's anyone hold him, approach him, pet him. He sets the tone for the other pets in the house (we have 4 cats and a Yorkie). They know if Christopher Robin isn't bothered then they don't have to bother. If Christopher Robin loves someone or something, then they can love someone or something. He's just like the lead domino and keeps the pack calm and loving. I had 3 Italian Greyhounds and they were the best! But the trembling and shaking is their reaction to a lot of things. They were happiest when I held them under my shirt, skin to skin, and their head poked out the neck. I also have had 2 Miniature Pinschers (you need to do some with that breed!). The female was so bossy. She ran a tight ship and let you know anything she thought you needed to know. She loved me. I was her big dumb puppy that she thought she had to take care of. Somehow she couldn't train me to lick myself clean rather than go into the dreaded "water room" (aka shower). But she sure tried. I've also had a long haired white German Shepherd. Sweetest dog in the world. He weighed about 110 lbs so he was BIG but sweet as sugar. And I've had 5 Cocker Spaniels. So sweet, loved the outdoors. All my babies. I miss each and every one of them. But Jonny Devaney, you make me laugh so hard. You really brighten my day with your skits. Thank you!
