I just sold a ton of the 3rd series and had no idea the RJ rookie had value (looking at it on Ebay now). I bought a massive lot on Monday full of packs and topps traded 85-91 sets (which I love) , not a huge pack guy. Anyways I kept the traded sets I really liked (85, 86, 89, 91) and re sold all the packs today besides a bunch of 89 Fleer and 90 UD for a little more than I initially paid for the lot. Thought I made out great until this video popped on. Thanks John! Would have absolutely ripped (there was over 50 of the 3rd series blue border with stars) in search for that goofy Big Unit card. Oh well the buyer seemed like a cool dude hope he pulls a bunch and my wife was going to lose her mind if I left them around the house any longer with the 1 year old getting into everything.

TPIA is a combination of my two favorite things as a kid. Baseball cards and Pee Wee’s playhouse.

For what its worth, Delino DeShields was a fantastic player in A minor league. I watched him a few times in my hometown playing for the Rockford Expos (long gone) where he was quite the legend back in 1988.

Everyone in the late 80s was obsessed with Big 'uns...

I think I had like three packs of these total when I was a kid. Definitely not more than a handful of cards. I specifically remember the Carlton Fisk and that’s what made me think of this. I kept my cards in shoe boxes with rubber bands around the stacks so the Bigs got damaged from that. Guess I wasn’t clever enough at six years old to store those separately 😂

I have Sheffield's 89 topps rookie. Obviously not a big money card but i think it's neat! He was a hell of a baseball player!

About the 1988 O-Pee-Chee rookies, they done the Blue Jays and Expos first and second picks from 1987, which really was rather awesome and Topps should have been doing that as well. Notably there was Delino DeShields and Derek Bell, both who had fair enough careers in the majors. I actually pack pulled those two back in 1988 on a family trip to Canada. Then there was also Alex Sanchez who was on a million rookie cards with all the companies a couple years later but ended up being a bust. And then Nate Minchey whom I don't remember ever seeing on another card at all and I honestly had to look the name up as I forgot who it was. It's a cute little set, although probably only Delino is the one worth having. I have a soft spot for the OPC cards and I love to collect even the commons whenever I come across them. Oddly enough they are harder to get than the Topps cousins, but are usually worth way less. Try collecting the key 60s-80s OPC key rookies without mail ordering them. It'll be very hard to do but usually affordable.

Ultra pro makes vintage card penny sleeves that will fit the topps big cards. They make vintage card top loaders also.

After the video I ended up putting them in some vintage sleeves. I’ll have to get some bigger top loaders though because the sleeves stick out of the top a little bit.

I just opened a box of the series 3 about a week ago. Fun rip. The Randy Johnson and John Smoltz rookies are always right next to each other in packs. Got three of each plus a few Bo Jackson cards. Good value compared to other junk wax. Got a BBCE box for about 90.

I was convinced that Delino DeShields would be one of the top players of the 1990s. Someone along the lines of a Rickey Henderson or Tim Raines on the base pads with enough hitting abilities to be dangerous. He was a good base thief. But exhibited little power.
