This is amazing, right when I started watching the show. I waited on Morgan Fairchild last year, and reminded her of when she fell through that plate glass window! Great to see such an old, classic scene.

Ann does such a wonderful job as Eunice in these clips. I don't know why they wrote her out.

They don't make them like this anymore. What a long scene, unheard of today.

Search was more of a CBS soap than an NBC one.

A week or so later, the show opens with a shot of a woman (shown only from the waist down) walking into her apartment, putting her suitcases down and running to answer the phone, as the camera pans up to reveal a still-alive "Eunice." It was quite the shocker, and the viewers had no idea it was coming.

Didn't they do that on Days of Our Lives with Marlene in '82? They rewrote and had her identical twin sister be the victim. Marlene's re-entry was just as you described.

There are loads of "Search" episodes on AOL Video, and Mary was on the soap til the very end, in fact the very last scene with "Dtu" (Larry Haines), who just died last summer. Right now they're up to late 1985, but you may download or watch many of the AOL eps. on a site called "SoapWorld" at the Yuku website. I also have several even more vintage eps. of "SFT." If you private message me, I can send you some.

I was a huge SFT fan too. It was an amazing soap!!! Among my favorite was the storyline of Dr. Alan Ramsey and Nurse Faye Chandler kidnapping Wade Colins. Do you happen to have any of those fantastic episodes? I would truly love to see those again. I was obsessed with that storyline. It was true soap opera and totally captivating, day in and day out. I could not wait to tune in tomorrow!!!!!

As you have noted, soaps were really still terrific in the era which this clip shows. But today they have so deteriorated that, well, let me put it this way-- I think there are many who would wish Morgan Fairchild walk into a scene of a soap (such as "All My Children") with an M16 and do away with 99% of the characters. One simply cannot invest a whole lot of sentiment in characters for who we care not a whit.

Do you also recall an earlier storyline when "Karl Devlin" tried to shoot "Eunice" at "Doug's" cabin, ended up shooting "John Wyatt's" secretary instead? It may have been just a bit before you started watching, but around the same period generally. I'll never forget it, because one never saw "Eunice" shot close up, only from the vantage point of the shooter. Then what was believed to be "Eunice's" hat was found, floating on the lake.

What was her reaction when you brought up that classic scene?
@gymnastix

Of course what constitutes "old, classic" is relative. To me, the episodes of "Arthur Tate" in his wheelchair are "old & classic" and the storylines with Bob Mandan as "Sam Reynolds" and Joan Copeland as "Andrea Whiting" just classic. But I certainly will never forget those time-lapsed scenes of "Jennifer Pace Phillips" going through the motions (or her "paces," sorry), so to speak.
