The only reason marines could’ve left the crash site is if one or two of them was seriously injured. There’s no visibility with the snow so they could’ve tried to find somewhere to stay. It was dark and snowed mix with fog. There’s no sun people. These people have families please pray. This is coming from a combat vet that just called to volunteered to help.

They absolutely do. When you loose visual references in a copter it’s incredibly tough.. only aircraft that requires you using both arms and legs and eyes constantly. If you have an issue you gotta check list your way out.. unfortunately sometimes you run into something before you’re able to get out of it. Just being at 5,000ft elevation in fog in a copter can throw off your sense of direction. You can feel right side up while I’m a roll.. it’s scary shit. Also, this wasn’t a full on crash. More of a horrid landing in an area that you can’t land. I do however think that those marines are dead though. They are trained very well, we’d have made contact by now. God have mercy on their souls.

Unless you have been in that area during bad weather, you have no clue how dangerous those winds are. Brutally dangerous. The downdrafts are so dangerous and powerful, the FAA prohibits private jets and single / twin engine planes from flying over the area. That area was being littered with plane wrecks up until the FAA ordered a change. The military might operate with an exemption or outside the FAA. Not sure.
@pacificostudios9 ай бұрын
I think you're right. Remember that earlier that day, San Diego had a tornado warning. The chopper might have been hugging the ground when they hit a downdraft. The mystery is why, apparently, no bodies were found where the chopper fell.
@maxsmith6959 ай бұрын
@@pacificostudios the tornado alert ( versus warning), was because conditions in the Mountain View area were become unstable, but the alert was cancelled after a few minutes. A warning means one has been sighted. Alert means conditions are possible for a tornado. From 2022-2023 there have been multiple reports of wind gusts that were the highest in California, over 100 mph, around Mt Laguna. I have no idea how a big helicopter can handle high winds, but gusts of 60-80 were forecast for the mountains with this storm. I think the pilots, air traffic bosses and the CO of the base, do not know the reputation of that air corridor because they move from base to base in their careers, and San Diego can go years without a powerful storm like this.Also, since the FAA closed a large amount of that air corridor to air traffic, 25 years ago, ( based on the winds), there have been no crashes there.

This is not even CLOSE to being "bad weather", most of the US has far worse weather than this every week. Also, there is no reason that they would leave a crashed copter. Even in a bad crash, it's still the best shelter available to them. Basic survival 101.
