The place where a "grenade monument" is was a site of the last combats of ww2 in Europe. There is quite big commemoration every year. :)

Typical bus drivers from Bosnia / Serbia ... It's hard for them to do anything, especially helping passengers.

Welcome to Slovenia, hope both of you enjoyed your stay here and thank you for a great video. Next time if you visit Slovenia, msg me and il be more than happy to show you around and buy you a beer. Velenje is an old town, first time mentioned around 13th century. It was later developed by Titos yugoslavia, before it was just a village with fields and farms for centuries. People will never forget and thats why is still known as Titovo Velenje, the square that you both walked on is know as Titos square and a lot of streets were called after him all over the slovenia. People loved him from all nations. Just take a look of his funeral, their is no funeral like his. But after his death and when the independence came they started removing everything related to him, they wanted to remove the statue also but people protested...politics condemned him as a criminal and genocide with no facts or proof, but still alot of people believed that and still believes to this day. But look at us today without him all the former countries of Yugoslavia teared apart. After his death every nation was falling, we had wars with eachother and now we have only sadness, hate and missery. Nobody respects nobody anymore. Everyone is takeing care of theirselfs. In former Yugoslavia everybody was takeing care of everyone and we called that: Brotherhood and Unity which is now long forgoten. They only see the badness in him that he made and forget about the goodness that he gave. There is a saying: Tito did steal but he gave to us also, today everyone steals, but nobody gives anything to anybody. But never the less they can call it whatever they want but people here will always know that he was the main reason for this city to grow also after his death. First time when Tito came to Velenje. People put a red rug for him to walk on but he refused to walk on it. He said give it to the people. I think that his Ideology was well intentioned. Sadly we didnt have a successor like him, if we did Velenje would be a true utopia.

Is that the town with the coal mines?
@DistantSilhoutte
@DistantSilhoutte 2 жыл бұрын
@@HaleyandZach Velenje has the coal mine but the coal mine iis called "Premogovnik Velenje" and it is to run the factory named TEŠ in Šoštanj but TEŠ caused pollution in the town and around it the trees were litteraly dying so people protested and they built like an air cleaning machine or whatever they made and its better now and the coal mines sunk a village named Družmirje making Družmirsko Jezero also they cut down trees around that lake to prevent oxidation from happening if the trees sink so it looks so ugly there and a part of the hill one day litteraly just broke of near the lake making a cliff like 2 years ago and there are cracks there but it isn't affecting the town at all which is good the only threat is if Velenjsko and Druzmirsko jezero connected into one it would sink Sostanj because its altitude is lower than that of Velenje but they said that if that ever comes close to happening they will stop mining coal so yeah I though that's pretty interesting hope it's not annoying.

Not annoying at all! It is so hard to find information about smaller places like this! We truly appreciate when people share stuff because we want to learn!

It is not, what are you talking about? It would be illegal to hitchhike in the middle of a highway, but otherwise no.
