Michael going down to see Rupert down at his home in the Aude region of France was all about moving the 'Göbekli Tepe to Stonehenge' project along. www.buymeacoff...
We achieved a huge amount while we were together; decisions made about flights, car hire, which sites we are going to visit etc. etc., and we drilled down on all the expenses to make sure we are within budget and we have chosen a set of dates for the filming.
However, this time around it won't just be Rupert in front of the camera. We're planning a travelogue involving the two of us - in other words a large part of the filming for GTTS will be seat-of-the-pants vlogging with the intent of bringing the viewer along with us as far as is possible.
Turning the camera on ourselves in this way needs practice so we thought we'd take advantage of the situation and make a short film in the style we'd like to adopt and use it as a learning platform to find out the strengths and pitfalls of this way of filming on the fly.
Hope you enjoy!
Help us make our next film, GÖBEKLI TEPE to STONEHENGE at ...

I spent some time on the Ardéche and you can come across standing stones in the middle of nowhere off the track, they are so impressive and one even scared me looking so sinister standing there. Thanks for the lovely video you guys made me smile so much 😊😊

Rupert, the resident Francophile, driving a RIGHT-hand drive vehicle along the twisty-turny roads in rural France? And I wonder (as I always do) how and why the people chose that EXACT spot for their monument. Two stones can indicate a direction to a significant geographical feature, but a single stone can be viewed from any angle, and points nowhere except up.

Really enjoy the Videos when the two guys are together instead of a joint ZOOM broadcast. Their ‘banter’ and interaction is spontaneous, funny and informative. To go off on a tangent, French local councils have fantastic recycling facilities. I would even watch a Video of them making an irreverent visit to a re-cycling facility! Seriously, more stuff of you two together.

Certainly the antithesis of "Dumb and Dumber". Fun to follow along. If the Romans had gambling, you can have gambling. Fascinating. Also, nothing wrong with identifying the flowers! Maybe a 360 camera on a stick to hold in front of you for vlogging? No focus issues. Just a thought. Have fun!

Hey guys, love that area of France and have enjoyed exploring there, though wasn’t aware of the prehistoric sites. However, I’m really looking forward to your adventure from Turkey to the UK. My maternal family comes from Northern Pembrokeshire, close to Pentre Ifan, traceable back over 500 years. I am fascinated by the pre-history in the area and how it is connected to that of Cornwall, Brittany, the Iberian Peninsula on to the Mediterranean. DNA evidence appears to show clear connection. So your exploration of the movement of agriculture will be intriguing.

Wow!....i didn't expect the Rennes-le-Château diversion!.....i'm familiar with some of the alleged histrionics of the place, though not via the Dan Brown/Michael Baigent, Richard Leigh, and Henry Lincoln way, but rather from a different route; with a book called 'Geneset - Target Earth" by David Wood & Ian Campbell. Well worth a read if your interested in other aspects of the Rennes-le-Château mystery etc...... can't wait for "'GÖBEKLI TEPE to STONEHENGE' and all the wonderful knowledge your going to introduce to us ....and Rupert, i hope your leg gets better...i could see you were in pain there and i know how that feels...

At 14:50, it seems to be aimed at a cleft between 2 hills. Which seemed a bit phallic. And then at 15:10, when we can see how it's curved (and leaning, though that may have occurred over the time since it was placed), it seems *really* phallic. Just an uneducated observation.

If you guys pretended to get zapped by the fence and used "bug flies into his mouth" in the title you would get a gazillion new subscribers overnight, just sayin'! I'm kidding of course - now, are you almost bickering ALREADY? save it for down the road because you have a looong way to go! LOL - I was in awe of the landscape where the standing stone is, the "break" in the mountains behind it, the menhir-like peak stones in the distance (I don't know if they would look the same, that far into the past) no wonder people have speculated the stone's location could relate somehow to the landscape. I think prehistory is your main dish, but some light seasoning of ants, spiders and plants won't hurt at all - some local color will make each episode different from the next. Love the vlogging format, I think it will work well, even better than the formal documentary style. More accessible, more friendly, warmer in tone. The banter, the stories about mining, the romans, the casino - delightful, gents!

Not excavating: funding is tight for many of the amazing places already known, and perhaps saving places that have been tagged as of interest, saving those places for new techniques, new technologies, new generations of archaeologists ... waiting, as annoying as waiting is, especially since we'll likely not live to see what's what, waiting may be the best thing for some sites. For instance, isn't there still a potential library still unexcavated in Herculaneum where carbonized scrolls have already been found and virtually unrolled with some interesting technologies? What's been found so far seems to be the works of an epicurean philosopher, but, the unexcavated area could be a more generalized Library? Possibly containing long lost works? Is it better to wait for even better technologies to excavate, or carpe diem?

People need a new rock to chisel on. That one isn't gonna take getting popular very well. A new limestone plinth as a dedication or something. Just put it up with some chicken scratch already on it and the words "carve on me" at the top in ten languages. I know places that I wish had a giant chain bolted to the ground or something just to keep people busy till they get tired and leave an important site. I was at a reservoir with petroglyphs all along one side and this huge chain ran across the rocks and down the bank to the water some 6-800 feet long. It attracted much more of a crowd and spared the rest of the place. I forgot till now about when it got dark...😬 half the place, like a mile of bank was a deep pile of broken rock. I don't know how many rats started coming-up when it got dim but there had to have been hundreds if not thousands.
