Having lived a lifetime around guns, engines and airplanes my hearing is gone. One regret is that I didn't take better care of my hearing so please wear ear protection when you are running your tanks you will be glad that you did, believe it or not some day you will be old.
@gregedmand9939

Old? At this rate they will be joining the Hearing Aid Brigade by age 50. Far too many think you just get used to high decibel noise, like your muscles do with exercise. Unfortunately: you just permanently lose your hearing, every time to batter it. These guys rarely even protect their eyesight from flying bits of metal, bashing two hammers together and running angle grinders. Hearing is way down the list. Listening to the older generation that learned these lessons the hard way, doesn't seem much of concern.

The fact that you and your guys happily tear down tanks to their bare bones and restore them so well piece by piece makes me glad that I found your channel. I'm hoping to buy one from you within the next decade. Just working on saving the hundreds of thousands first to also have it imported to Texas haha.

Stumbled upon your channel a couple of weeks ago and have been enjoying catching up on the progress of your various projects. As a retired aero engineer whose father was a motor mechanic, I have always loved problem solving on all thing mechanical. I like the blend of hedge engineering and enhusiasm that you bring to each problem, keep up the good work and don't get to serious.

Over the years stripping motorbike carbs down to single items (including my CBX 6) I was in a sweet spot where I absolutely knew what I was looking at and what was what. It seems carbs is carbs even all the way up to that thing. I still prefer them to injection because they are 100% rebuildable (zero electronics) and now I understand them well.

Well I am subscribed. I think carbs are a bit of a black art. I had a Holley on a Mustang go bad on me and I couldn't fix it despite ultrasonic cleaning and fitting loads of new parts. Those bits of brass could be from an emulsion tube that's corroded away or something. I guess charging around the field was enough to bounce around the debris so it got where it shouldn't.

Just happened on your channel when I typed in Fox CVR (W) which I used to drive as a 17 year old back in my TA Days (1982-84) Also drove (latterly) the Scimitar and Saracen - which our Support Troop used. Our Squadron recovery vehicle detachment (LAD - REME as they were known) used the venerable Scammell Pioneer. The particular example we used being a WW2 veteran......in 1984!! The 'toxic' green of the engine and gearboxes and the silver paint for everything else evokes strong memories - as does the nomenclature of the oils we used OMD 75, OM11......oh, the memories are flooding back! Anyway, great videos guys, great work. Good to see you at MVT events which sadly declined over the years to a lot of middle aged hippies, wearing DPM and driving SWB/LWB/Defender Landrovers and demanding respect as military vehicle owners!! Good to see you bringing some heavy metal to life. Keep up the good work and give Ted a pat from me.

great vid - i can well imagine the colour of the air must turn a shade a blue - it does with me when i'm working on stuff - my biggest issue is gravity, dropping tools and small parts that become slippery with oil and hydraulic fluid (gloves too), that really gets my goat up, after busting my back last year and as the day goes on i really begin to struggle, not so bad lifting heavy items as i am more careful but improving, its a little over a year now - can't work out if i swore more before or now, probably about the same, probably a good job i don't make videos - AVRE sounds machos more betterer, all the ponies back in place and running in sequence Charlie, get subscribed and tell a friend

That is a Base overhaul engine as it has a black ID plate. Every thing on it should have been stripped and examined cleaned and rebuilt. We had (31 Cmd/DistrictWksp)a dedicated pump room that focused just on these carburettors which are totally stripped,cleaned and rebuilt. Once the engine was run in/load tested on Dyno they had extensive preservation sprayed through them. The float should not have got stuck or look as it does. ?

@landrelarose745

I'm able to type that the most frequent problem of an engine that isn't performing at its best is because the carburetor's passages are clogged with dried fuel. This means that they need to be cleaned out so it's able to do what it's designed for. Yes, to move that tracked military vehicle. I additionally want to add that I designed one of them myself. It's a hybrid. Is it a tracked vehicle? Yes, it was designed to have two each of them, one for each side. This next sentence isn't because I want to ve arrogant or to boost pride in me, except it's a great design. So why did I type it for? It's because another gave me that design.

oh you bad lad,,,dont rev a cold engine on this or you will strain the avimore oilpipe couplings and what a mess if you split onewith the engine running,, try not to rev it to try to keep the oil pressure above 50 psi and below 90 psi on a cold engine,when the engine warms up you will see the oil pressure drop to as low as 10 psi hot ticking over,, there are a few sets of these couplings on the engine,,very hard part to get new old stock now,,,,,,,,moses mechanic
