Mix breakdowns are always welcome. Especially for problematic things like vocals. I can't believe I've never used Trigger2 to gate drums. I'll certainly have to give it a go.
@spinlightstudiosАй бұрын
It’s actually very good as a gate, only problem is it’s a hard gate and you can’t set the floor volume so it either works or it doesn’t
@nobnobnobnobАй бұрын
@@spinlightstudios I thought the sidechain compression is the way to go instead of gating, or combination?
@spinlightstudiosАй бұрын
Gating is fine if it works! I go between gating and using an expander for kicks.

Though, I'm a guitar player, I'm a huge fan of drummers. As a relative newb, I'd say my drum-mixing is my weakest area. Your drum sound in all of your videos is next-level. I'd love to see a full drum mix breakdown. Side note: I didn't know you could split bands in Saturn 2. Note to Self: learn your plugins. Lol !! Another great video, Rhys. Thank you.

Thanks man! I think a full breakdown is in order :)

Love the way you explain things so simple! p.s Future video idea: How to get the perfect volume balance of a mix, you know... the levels of each track, how loud should be the kick/snare/cymbals to sit correct with bass, rhythm guitars, vox.. is there some secret recipe or rules we should know...with your experience you must have some tricks and tips about it. .Strangely, not enough content about this topic so I would definetely love to see your take on it! Keep this awesome content coming!
@spinlightstudiosАй бұрын
Thanks man! True, it maybe a tricky one to really explain because I feel like it varies so much, but it’s a good idea - I might have an attempt at it 😂 see if what I say makes any sense 😂

I have a challenge for you Rhys! Can you make a drum kit from cardboard boxes, trash lids and plastic that replicate the snare, plus hit hat? Can that be done? Mmmmm I dare say you can, that’s a challenge! Yet to be done by any drummer on KZbin! Think of the views you’ll get!
@spinlightstudiosАй бұрын
😂😂 and then just place trigger on every piece of the kit? 😂😂

I think it would be a better video to make drums from samples on the internet for example a gunshot snare
