I've been doing it the wrong way around this whole time! A LA-2A catching the first transients with about 3 to 5 dB compression leading into an 1176. Not the bluey though, so I'm gonna see how that feels as well switching them around. Never quite got the results I was looking for with that combination, so looking forward to trying this out.

I mean, you can definitely do it either way. Will just sound a little different because of the speed of the compressors!

Great stuff. UAD 1176 into a LA-2A always sounds great on vocals. Although I'm a Pro-Tools user, I was really impressed with the Logic chain - sounded great.

The logic stock compressors actually go pretty good! Not quite the same Mojo, but damn near close! Close enough to do a great job anyway!

Original vocal! I don’t think I used parallel comp in this vid, but that is also a good method to get a good blend of compression

It would've been great to hear a comparison between that chain and your AS 76A and Opto. When you mix for real (not for KZbin) do you go hybrid and use your analog gear, or do you only use gear for tracking? New subscriber; digging the channel bro.

Thanks man! I’ve tried the 76a into the Opto, sometimes it sounds good. Sometimes it gets a little over saturated to my ears. Usually while tracking I use the Opto on vocals! And usually the 76a on vocals I want more edge out of, rock/screaming stuff. Sometimes when people send me mixes Of completely uncompressed vocals I’ll pass them through the Hardware for some vibe. Otherwise I mostly use plugins while mixing, with the exception of my mix bus which is a hardware chain and the occasional parallel compression on drums using the Audioscape DCOMP.
