Searchlights? Codeline? Class 1 Railroad? 2021? - Preserving the CSX Plymouth Subdivision

Searchlights? Codeline? Class 1 Railroad? 2021? Yes, you heard me right, there are still searchlights standing on this CSX line as of the time of this recording. For some strange reason, CSX was allowed to keep the searchlights active on this line despite the mandate for PTC. However, insider sources tell me that the days of these searchlights are numbered. The line from Grand Rapids out to Lake Odessa was still running on ATCS communication and, at the time of this writing, and has now been cut over to fiber and satellite as of September 30th, 2021. This seems to conform the rumors that CSX is getting ready to modernize the line; taking the signals with the project. While the line from Lake Odessa to Plymouth still runs on code line logic, and the system is showing its age.

I actually was along the Plymouth sub this summer in east Lansing and I couldn’t find a single train. However I did see this mighty signals and some trains on CN (of course).

Yeah, it's definitely a line where you need to know the train's schedules and have some heads up information on.

@@HesitantSignal I did ask my uncle who lives in Okemos and he knew a couple things but that didn’t work out so well. However I did try Grand Rapids but I couldn’t see anything in Wyoming Yard. However I did go to Flint and I saw some CSX and LSRC stuff there tho

@@HesitantSignalhey there! I’d like to give a small update! At 1:19:53, I caught L303 (with help from the folks on the RailroadFan site) this summer at that crossing! Although it was backlit and it had two Gevos, I finally got a train on this line! I’m hoping to return for more action soon on this line in the future! That shot at 1:46. I saw a train parked there yesterday. I live near there and I REALLY REALLY want to go there again but I have no idea when one of them will stop there again. I don't want to stand around there too long as that area seems a bit sketchy but I could be wrong. I couldnt find anywhere to park either lol.

I'm happy that I just discovered this video! One bit of advice though, many times your narration gets drowned out by the sounds of the trains. Once you get the mixing down, it'll be perfect. Great content nonetheless. Keep it up!
