Seascape demonstration in oils by artist Roos Schuring

Roos Schuring is a plein air painter from Holland, and in this video Noel Garner of Cambridge Art Academy caught up with Roos as she was painting a seascape in oils on a beach in South Holland.

Have seen this video many times. It was my introduction to Roos, who is an amazingly gifted painter. Would have loved to have seen her painting in real time, not fast speed. Any chance you can give us the unedited real time version.

Roos, do you think a plein air landscape is more expression or portraying the exact location.

I paint much bigger paintings outside ,use kidney palette made from cardboard painted white ,sometimes I paint in acrylic then paint over in oils ,I'm more expressive ,use lots of brushes and colour ,and really like to use perspective frame and try to see the form rather than making impression ,I found my paintings are more alive if I am angry .

I have to get a hood that i dont care if i get paint on it. There is no substitute for getting out there and just doing it. We did have about a 500 lb bear in our front yard lasr week in upstate ny. I never really thought about needing protection out there
