15:10 I fully agree starting with white is the proper approach. I think a major reason to use a colored paper is that you could clearly lay down your whites. On a white paper it’s a lot more challenging since you are forced to use negative painting. Great video.

Clear gesso. I usually use Winsor and Newton or Liquitex. It's a primer that creates a textured surface.

I tried it with Gesso and Polychromos but it didn‘t work 🤷🏻‍♀️ I couldn‘t blend the colours with fingers.

I m trying clear transparent gesso of DOM (cwr) , same It cannot allow to blend colored pencil polychromos (caran d ache don t blend but appear nice and opaque on prepared clear gesso paper) . I Experiment It on different surfaces , seems good on paper for charcoal , sanguine, pastel pencils . There re so many Primers nowadays , that Need time to Experiment and get which Better for personal style and tecnique . In other yt videos i saw how well Is Golden pastel ground as primer, even fine pumice gel or something close to stucco . I think common stucco for Wall if well sanded can be good too . I notify a great quality of clear gesso that i used : if i Mark a sign a line on paper It can erased so well , i don t know why. Even blending pastel pencils Is good . The Key i think Is also the surface, the paper the gsm² . Not all primers have same grip on same surface Which kind of Fabriano paper do u use for your colored pencil draw ? Which gsm²?
