Shoyan Japanese Carpenter

Shoyan Japanese Carpenter

Күн бұрын

Finally, this house is completed. The carpentry work started in April and continued until the end of September. It took five months.
It has been constructed using many traditional timber construction methods; it is so beautiful now the fittings and walls are complete.
This is the last episode of Season 2! Thank you!

Can you imagine the cost of the wood to build at this level? The time sorting and everything is replaced, first by machine, then again by hand! Knots are very few- if at - and although the video doesn’t show everything…..every joint is perfect! And he does everything by himself! Skills unheard of here……

In the US, trim/finish carpentry is done after drywall is finished. I see in your videos that in Japan, it is the revers. I am stunned at the neatness of your drywall finishers. I would love to see them work.

I know its late reply but i just watched the videos and I am a builder and let me tell you these guys must be the neatest drywallers i jave ever even heard of, wtf i have never seen a crew that could do that here in the US, they must be as precise as Shoyan is with carpentry

I really love the idea of having the same carpenter do all (most?) of the woodwork in the house. This allows the person to take pride and ownership of their work and focus on quality rather than having to just get finished so the next guy can come in. Here in Canada, we have carpenters split up into different types and it takes several different crews to complete the work that Shoyan does himself, often with less quality because the focus (most of the time) is on production speed.

Your attention to detail, including the balance and palette of the different woods, the colors, astounding. The fact that you take the time to note those parts that will or will not be seen by the client shows how thoughtful you (and I suspect most) Japanese craftsmen are. Outstanding work.

I don't think any country comes close to producing the woodworking craftsmanship of the Japanese carpenters. As in all countries, some are better than others but you sir, would have to be the BEST that I have had the pleasure seeing. You say you hope the owners will be happy with the house, well, if they are not they need their heads examined. It is breathtakingly spectacular & an absolute credit to you. My high regards to you sir, Don from South Aust.

Amazing craftsmanship! You have a very calm gentle and precise touch when measuring and marking, even making your cuts. Amazing to watch an older craftsman with all those years of knowledge and skills as I can tell you’re very much at peace while working. Building is when you’re truly in your happy place 😁. House is beautiful.

All those measurements and angles cut to perfection. From what I see this is carpentry at its best from a very experienced carpenter with very high standards. It's a pleasure to watch.

Simplicity, beauty, balance. The interior of this house is really beautiful; the way the space is maximised is optimal. Absolutely bespoke craftsmanship, and the woods used are simply a dream. It looks mike very nice wood to work with. The people who are going to live in this beautiful house are very lucky- they should be very happy for many years. Thank you very much fro sharing. All I have to say is wow! I am amazed by the care and attention given to the work. It is obvious that you love your work and take pride in doing the best you can. Here in the western US homes are built without much craftsmanship, and many builders just do a "good enough" job.

Amazing! If it weren't abundantly clear already you were a cut above, the moment at 10:30 made my jaw drop.
