The focus went to the wild horses or mustangs instead of the stables and facility itself but I kept watching anyway. People were bringing in the wild horses back in the 70s. They were in pretty sad shape when they showed up too! We stabled our horse at one of the stables there off of Goldenwest in 73. Back then there were several stables and shows and events were held at all of them. Take note that most the riders and trainers are young women. There is something about horses and young women more so than young men? We had nothing but young women helping out with all the training. Trail riding was also done in the marsh area. I noticed a lot of homes back there in the video. I'm sorry to see how the developers were allowed to destroy a complete area but thankful that this small area has managed to stay in existence. I would bet that there is a lot of pressure from the developers that want to take over that area too.

My parents were the manager's for several years of the stables owned by AC Marion on the corner of Goldenwest & Ellis. I have fond memories of living there, riding my pony, helping my parents feed the horses and clean their stalls, and going on trail rides with just myself, I remember when they built the stables that eventually turned into the equestrian center.
