@@bcool9272 *spoilers for Manga Yes Eddie and I (Mikey)_ discussed whether or not to bring that up in this episode as the chapter had just come out. It was completely relevant to the scene however we felt like we should exclude it as to not spoil anything for people in discussions. It was amazingly timed to see Kuma watch Luffy practice this and say "This move is for if anyone takes my friends (Nami) away from me"

the thing with Usop in the fight at Arlong Park is that he kited away the one Fishman with ranged attacks that Sanji and Zoro would have been weak against. so while he only took down one Fishman he took down a key one.

On the point of Luffy being a Pirate, Luffy is about as atypical of a pirate in this world as they come. The large majority of pirates are nowhere near as benevolent as Luffy. Luffy will also be the first person to say not to call him a hero. Garp said he's been in the Marines for over 50 years and he's seen a lot of horrible things done by Pirates so it makes sense that he wouldn't want his grandson going down that path, no matter how well intentions. Garp was there when "The King of the Pirates" was still put to death so even being the best pirate doesn't mean you're not going to caught.

@@Amansalwan No, that is what you call spoilers. There could've been many paths, what if there were marines that were stronger that captured Gol D Roger? What if he was too old so he was captured? What if Garp was stronger than him that he caught him and captured him? They never know or guess if he "surrendered" as that was never mentioned until you spoiled it.

Hey guys in previous episodes you expressed appreciation for the actor playing Buggy. You may already know that his name is Jeff Ward. He is the reason I started watching this show. Don't get me wrong, I'm delighted by the show and look forward to season 2. But I had no knowledge of One Piece. I just knew that Ward was in it, so I came to it for Jeff. Jeff Ward was in one of my favorite shows..... Marvel's AGENTS OF SHIELD. A great show that began in 2013 and ran for 7 seasons. If you've never seen it, you should seriously consider it. Judging by the great shows you watch (i.e. The Expanse) I pretty sure you'd really like it. Funny Jeff Ward story though. He was originally hired for a small part that saw the character get killed quickly. But the producers and director of the show saw something special in Ward and decided there's just no way we can kill this guy off. So, they rewrote it and cast him as another character (that's a pretty damn big deal) and then he was around for seasons 5,6&7 Ward is loved by all his fellow cast on Agents of Shield and he is a delight to watch. In Agents he plays a mischievous but mostly good guy. Where here in One Piece he is a villain, despite his funny, clownish behavior, he's a bad guy. Ward has been perfect for this role. I would be looking forward to season 2 of One Piece even if Ward wasn't around anymore. But, it appears that we will get more of Buggy and that makes me so 😊 😊

@@732ReviewCrew Jeff Ward (aka Buggy) doesn't become a main character until season 5. But Agents of Shield is a GREAT show, regardless. It is rated 7.5 of 10 on IMDB and 95% on Rotten Tomato. A must watch if you're a Marvel fan. The bonus comes in season 5 when Jeff joins the team. He's GREAT! Just as funny as he is in One Piece.

Yours has been my favourite reaction to this series by old fans that I've watched. I prefer watching people new to OP react to this series, because og fans kinda tend to fall into just listing things missing or done differently than just enjoying the show. And you don't really fall into that trap, it's really nice to watch.

The Baratie two-parter especially with Mihawk were great but I think my favorite episode is the finale. The fight between the Arlong & the fishmen and Luffy & gang was great but the endings from the wanted poster (especially loved seeing Mihawk give the wanted poster to Shanks) to the cast off ceremony really sold the episode to me. I've also read that the flashback insertion of the children in the cast off ceremony was done by the editor and the showrunners loved it (I did too). Hence there was no direct quoting of Nami's or Usopp's dream. Lastly, in defense of the writers, as a One Piece newbie, I did not find Luffy's repeated saying of "Of Course I Will!" to be cheesy at all (but no worries still really like you guys). It seemed in keeping with his character especially given how many times he says that he's going to be King of the Pirates. I also agree that the Garp actor (Vincent Regan) seems like he would be a good replacement for Ray Stevenson in Ahsoka. Thanks guys, glad you reacted to this show!

If it hasn't been mentioned earlier then another consideration to look at/react to is the youtube video "The Breathtaking World Of One Piece" by Strawhat V. It shows off all manner of locations, flora, and fauna in the One Piece world taken from the anime and movies. It does spoil locations up to what aired one year ago in the anime, but there is no context and the general reaction is "how is all of this in just one series". Mikey and Eddie should at least give this a look to see if the amount it spoils is worth how much it hypes up the desire to watch One Piece.

To everyone who knows the character, the absence of a certain Fishman was discussed by the creators of the Live Action: they couldn’t bring him yet because of budget reasons despite wanting to do a fight with him and Zoro; they’re implying that they do want to bring him in later, somehow. On another note, how d’you feel about the way the adapted Arlong? Specifically in terms of how his motives are depicted here; my thoughts are that it still keeps to the spirit of the character even with him being more ambitious. And his defeat still demonstrates how he’s ultimately a blowhard bully at his core; without Nami he’d never have gotten as far as he did, and when his self-worth is under attack he folds into little more than the rage-filled thug he really is. Definitely the vow is the most emotional moment of the season. But my low-key love goes to how they SHOW us the bond: Nami in both episodes 5 & 8 has a bit where I always think “these boys are her brothers”.
@732ReviewCrew
@732ReviewCrew 10 ай бұрын
He is credited in the show though, so maybe he was included just looked different? I agree, it shows his ambition and motives (very fair as you know, he explains fishmen are slaves. he has his freedom but wants revenge etc). very well, he's intimidating but we missed a few key scenes**** Luffy being bit/Zoro's scars/Luffy drowning. Not the worst but the scars bit lets the viewers know just how bad Zoro is injured. The vow is emotional and as someone who started with the 4kids dub and is still here today, the flashing to them as kids really got me going because their dreams started as kids and my journey (and Eddie's)started when we were of a similar age. We've come so far. They bond so hard, and it shows, Sanji hasn't gone through the journey with them even as much as Usopp so while they're still bonding he's not there yet (the hug)

@@732ReviewCrewyou're right, they say he appeared different. Yet, I think this plot line emptied the usefulness of that character to develop the story. There's very low connection between that character and the Strawhats and the main reason for his reintroduction was already in this series. That's why, I think that Arlong's characterization shouldn't have been expanded from the original source material.

so im seeing some people make a big deal about how soon garps reveal and story line is showing up here and acting like its a major spoiler..... honestly i think it kinda works and for people who watch the live action 1st it makes for a nice twist when the only other twist is nami. im only on episode 728 but it doesnt seem like garps going to come into play much more and outside of what the showed here there really wasnt much to do with him. they basically put his story before the grand line instead of before the new world. so other than marineford where he kinda didnt do jack anyway. im curious how they can do some of this show if they get later in the anime when stuff gets REALLY anime. like so far they have covered the more tame stuff but everything gets bonkers. not to mention annoyingly long arcs. im skimming through episodes now to get to the interesting stuff because i really dont give a damn about half the character side stories going on and the enemies stick around too long and it gets tedious. like seriously doflamingo is getting so annoying.

In manga canon there are maybe a dozen people in the world stronger than Garp in his 70s. Mihawk is nowhere near.
@smoothkirito
@smoothkirito 10 ай бұрын
I would actually argue that Mihawk is close to 70 year old Garp in strength, but yes, Mihawk is still weaker. The reason I would still consider them close is because Shanks is stronger than Garp, and Mihawk still cosiders himself strong enough to rival Shanks, although Shanks still considers Mihawk as far weaker, which is accurate, because Shanks is the strongest of the middle generation. Of course the middle generation is kind of lost in the middle, because Shanks, as strong as he is, does not have the strength of will or charisma of Roger, and is really only on equal to slightly weaker footing with Roger's closest rival, yet to be named or introduced in live action.

What's interesting is that Japanese didn't have a word for animation before Disney/etc, so they imported the English word for it. Eventually it got shortened to anime アニメ instead of animation アニメーション, but anime is always written in katakana since it is a "foreign" word.
